Coastal New England charm in the Annaquatucket neighborhood
Annaquatucket takes its moniker from a road of the same name that runs through the southern Rhode Island neighborhood. The coastal community sits on the edge of Narragansett Bay just outside of historic Wickford Village, and U.S. Route 1 bisects the west side while linking commuters to the highway. “Annaquatucket is really close to North Kingstown High School, really close to Wickford and really close to North Kingstown, where you can get the commuter train to Providence,” says Dianne Grippi, a Realtor and sales agent with Residential Properties. “All those things combined make it a really desirable neighborhood.” Jamestown is just across the bay, where the Wes Anderson film “Moonrise Kingdom” captured the quintessential New England character that defines the area.

New England homes can sit on or close to the water
Single-family homes make up most of the Annaquatucket housing market. Some older homes, dating to the 19th century, can be found on the north side. “Closer to downtown Wickford, there are a lot of really historic homes,” says Grippi, who has served the area for over 25 years. “They are colonial-style and, whether redone on the inside or out, very historic and typical of early 18th-century architecture.” Cape Cods and ranch-style homes can also be found in the area. Smaller single-family properties often sell for between $500,000 and $750,000, but larger homes, larger lots or waterfront listings can command over $1 million. Annaquatucket has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, the lowest possible ranking and significantly lower than the national average of 4.
