Riverfront views in an active community
Resting right on the Arkansas River, the Baring Cross neighborhood is a place filled with natural beauty and community spirit. This small neighborhood is tucked between several regional parks, the Camp Robinson military base and the arts district of downtown Argenta. But the neighborhood itself has plenty to offer residents, thanks to an active neighborhood association. The Baring Cross Neighborhood Association has stepped up to give the community access to affordable housing, arts programs and community events. “We work with our community members and our families because we call them our family as we continue our legacy at Baring Cross,” says Tacasata Hunter-White, vice president of Baring Cross Neighborhood Association. “We try to give back to the community and make sure we open doors for our family.”
Riverfront properties and transformed historic homes
Homes in Baring Cross range from one-story brick ranch-style homes and bungalows that were built in the 1930s and 1940s to modern two-story houses in the riverside community of Rockwater Village. While Rockwater homes have waterfront views, older parts of the neighborhood are made up of close-together lots shaded by oak trees. Small historic homes cost between $100,000 to $150,000, while new properties in Rockwater cost between $600,000 and $700,000 in addition to a monthly $100 HOA fee. “We pride ourselves in affordability, and we work closely with organizations like Rockwater. We’re able to rehabilitate homes and bring in affordable housing through organizations like Habitat for Humanity and continue to make Baring Cross a place where you can raise your family,” says Harlan Hunter, president of the Baring Cross Neighborhood Association.
