Sunray East is close to green space, high-end shopping and dining
The Fulford-by-the-Sea Fountain — a Classical Revival structure with a tile mosaic dome and a burbling fountain depicted on the official seal of North Miami Beach — welcomes people to the city and to the Sunray East neighborhood. Midcentury homes are near a variety of local restaurants, recreation at one of the area’s oldest green spaces and major thoroughfares. The neighborhood is between both Miami airports and less than 3 miles from the Aventura Mall. “It’s one of the nicest and largest malls in the area. They just opened a new addition called the Esplanade,” says Mona Silber Heisler, a Realtor with Beachfront Realty, Inc with roughly two decades of experience. “It has restaurants, high-end shops, a movie theater and a bowling alley. There are a lot of things going on, both indoors and outdoors.”

Depression-era history and a neighborhood-famous hill at Greynolds Park
The residential streets of Sunray East wrap around Greynolds Park and Greynolds Golf Course. The roughly 250-acre green space was once a rock quarry, and it’s now the county’s second-oldest park, home to limestone structures that were the product of a Great Depression-era program to create jobs and improve public outdoor spaces. Amenities include playgrounds, trails and a large hill. “I grew up in the neighborhood, and the big attraction was to roll down the hill,” Silber Heisler says. Farther east, a fishing dock and a canoe launch sit near a placid lake with views of the city skyline. The adjacent, municipal Greynolds Golf Course has nine holes, a clubhouse and lizards who occasionally roam the greens. Slightly south of the neighborhood, basketball courts sit next to a 25-yard heated pool with large spiral tube slides at the Victory Pool Family Aquatics Center. The Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater is next door with 931 seats for community events.

Hippie history and the Love-In Music Festival at Greynolds Park
Greynolds Park is also recognized for its role in the American counterculture movement—hippies were known to gather there for outdoor musical performances they called "love-ins." The annual Love-In Music Festival, in October, has celebrated this aspect of the park’s past for roughly two decades with classic rock concerts.
Stucco midcentury homes have lush lawns and hurricane protection
Gridded streets that embrace the Greynolds Golf Course on its west side comprise the Sunray East neighborhood. Sidewalks and driveways shaded by lush foliage make the area more convenient for pedestrians. Stucco bungalows and ranch-style homes from the 1950s fetch between $450,000 and $630,000. Many properties come with grassy lawns and palm trees, and some backyards boast flowering mango, passionfruit or avocado trees. High-impact windows and doors are common features too, indicating the region’s vulnerability to hurricanes, tropical storms and floods.
