Residences conveniently located near downtown Norwalk

Surrounding the elementary school of the same name, Wolfpit is a cozy residential neighborhood south of Cranbury. “Wolfpit is much smaller than Cranbury as far as landmass is concerned, but if you’re a part of Wolfpit, it feels more like a neighborhood,” says Joe Balestriere at William Raveis Real Estate, Norwalk’s top-selling Realtor from 2020 through 2023 and a Norwalk local. “The center of the neighborhood has the elementary school and its little park where people can get together.” Homes range from single-story brick and vinyl homes to two-story estates near the Westport boundary line on the east side of town. Residents can shop or dine on Westport Avenue or on Washington Street in Norwalk. Students attend school within the Norwalk School District, which is graded an overall B-plus on Niche.

A variety of Wolfpit single-family homes and condos

Eclectic architectural styles and clean sidewalks make up the Wolfpit neighborhood. “In parts of Wolfpit, there are less cut-through streets, so a lot of people like to walk around here,” Balestriere says. “Homes are affordable, more spread-out and there’s a little bit of everything. If you’re a first-time homebuyer, you’ll have a better shot of finding one in Wolfpit.” Condos and townhomes on Strawberry Hill and Wolfpit Avenue may cost between $250,000 and $400,000. Ranch-style homes and bungalows in neighborhoods near Murray Street can cost between $350,000 and over $500,000. Two-story Colonial and New England-inspired houses may reach over $700,000. Closer to Westport’s boundary line, large estates in various styles can cost over $1 million.

Diverse downtown Norwalk and Stew Leonard’s

Less than 3 miles north of Norwalk, Wolfpit residents have access to lots of dining experiences on both Washington Street and Main Street. “The thing I love about Norwalk is that it’s diverse, so you get a lot of food options,” Balestriere says. “No matter if it’s delicious Indian, Thai or Spanish foods, there are people bringing authentic cuisine and culture to the area." Closer to home, residents can explore shops on Westport Avenue like Stew Leonard’s, a Norwalk-originated indoor market with groceries, cut flowers and takeaway buffet food. “Stew Leonard’s is a tourist attraction in Norwalk,” Balestriere says. “Kids love it because they can press buttons and activate animatronics that sing to you all over the store.” For everyday errands, there is a Whole Foods down the road.

Westport’s downtown and Calf Pasture Beach

With Norwalk less than 3 miles south, commuting downtown is a short drive for most residents in the area. Wolfpit is also 4 miles north of Shady Beach Park, the Taylor Farm Dog Park and Calf Pasture Beach. “If you go down Strawberry Hill, which is almost a straight shot, it’s about a 25-minute bike ride for someone who would like to bike to the beach,” Balestriere says. Westport to the east has a charming downtown space and is only 2 miles away. Norwalk Hospital is about 3 miles south in case of emergencies or checkups.

Wolfpit’s marshy wetlands and ponds

Because of its marshy wetlands and proximity to the Saugatuck River and Fourteen Acre Pond, some parts of Wolfpit may experience slight flooding during heavy rainfall in springtime.
