Oak Grove's motto is "Come Grow With Us"
Just 28 miles from downtown Kansas City and on the edge of rural Missouri, Oak Grove is a town of just 8,000. It's a place where neighbors know each other and spend leisure time outdoors. The slogan, "Come Grow With Us," is reflected in Oak Grove's influx of houses built in 2022, enticing homebuyers looking for a slice of suburbia. On weekends, locals can be found at the town's aquatic center, fishing at the lake, cheering on local little leagues or attending small-town annual events. With well-regarded schools, community parks and sports fields covering much of the town, Oak Grove blends rural and city living.

Wandering through Oak Grove, homes are centered on quiet streets, surrounded by parks, schools and local shops. Oak and maple trees rest in the front yards of houses built in the 1970s to 1990s. Neighborhoods feature bi-level homes with clapboard siding, two-car garages, and ranch homes in shades of orange, muted yellows and brick facades. New constructions offer new traditional styles over 3,000 square feet. Prices start at 250,000 for a home built in the 1990s to $600,000 for a home built in 2022. “I’ve sold many houses in Oak Grove, and I find that many people move here because of the easy commute to the city and comparable home prices,” says Debbie Wyrick, a Realtor with Realty Executives and local to the area.

The Oak Grove Aquatic Center – it's a summer move
Oak Grove has many places for everyone to spend time outdoors. After class, local students and parents head to Webb Park on Southeast Oak Ridge Drive to cheer on local little leagues competing on the ball fields. Soccer is played at Frick Park, about a mile west of the ball fields, and Oak Grove Aquatic Center is a summer go-to, complete with interactive splash features for the kiddos, which residents gain access to by purchasing a season pass. The center is at Bent Oak Park, built on the old Oak Grove golf course and remodeled for multi-use recreation. Near East Gillespie Road, Caraway Lake is a quiet spot for crappie and bass fishing, along with Ferguson-Herold Conservation Area, which has several small ponds and sprawling grassy fields for turkey hunting about 4 miles from Oak Grove.
