Autumn Hills Park hosts summer events like Art in the Park
Families gather at Autum Hills Park every summer for Art in the Park, a free event series on Tuesday mornings from June through August. Every week has something different, from themed crafts to magic shows. At the end of July, the park takes on a whimsical vibe for Fairies in the Park, an installation of fairy gardens, elf homes and other magical miniatures designed by locals.

Major roads it easy to reach the Twin Cities
Part of Oak Park Heights’ appeal is its proximity to Stillwater. “It is literally one road away,” Nygaard says. “So, your average consumer goes back and forth and doesn’t even realize that they’ve traversed between the two communities.” Highway 36 and the Saint Croix Scenic Byway go through the city, making it well-connected to the Twin Cities and Stillwater. It’s about a 20-mile (30-minute) drive to downtown Saint Paul and a 25-mile (40-minute) drive to downtown Minneapolis. Public transportation is somewhat limited, but Metro Transit buses do stop in Oak Park Heights.
The Minnesota Correctional Facility is based in the city and is one of Oak Park Heights’ main employers. Many residents also commute into the Twin Cities for work.
There is public transportation provided for seniors living in the Stillwater area.
