Urban access, suburban amenities and a hometown feel in Oak Ridge North

Access to a major city, the convenience of the suburbs, and an everyone-knows-everyone small-town feeling – all of it comes together in Oak Ridge North. This small city is home to just over 3,000 people and is tucked between Houston, Spring and The Woodlands. Situated right on Interstate 45, this community is in demand for anyone wanting a fast commute into the city. But locals don’t have to go into Houston to get what they need. A large-scale shopping mall, a sprawling medical plaza, a nearly 10,000-person capacity football stadium, and some of the best schools in the county are all less than 3 miles of Oak Ridge North. “We’re a small town, but there’s so much potential here,” says Sarah McClure, director of economic development for Oak Ridge North. “You get the friendliness and that hospitality in a little town, but you also have everything you need to live or have a business here.”

Oak Ridge North homes span decades of styles

Many houses in Oak Ridge North were built over 60 years and reflect various styles from the six decades. During a short walk through the community’s oak tree-canopied streets, residents might spot a 1970s ranch house, a 1980s Victorian, a 1990s Cape Cod, or a contemporary Craftsman built as recently as 2023. “This area was originally just a subdivision in the 1960s, and there are a lot of older homes that owners take really good care of or renovate, so people still want to live in them,” McClure says. An older property can range from $300,000 to $500,000, while a new residence can run between $400,000 and $600,000, depending on the lot size and building company.
