A quiet, family-oriented community just a couple miles from the beach
Oakhurst is a quintessential small beach neighborhood just a couple miles from the beach. Its community is a mix of summer and year-long residents, so the town changes with the seasons, its beachy summer vibe turning quieter and sleepier during the winter in its own form of near-hibernation. “Oakhurst gives you a quiet quality of life,” Michael Mizrahi, a Realtor with Weichert Realtors and a community resident says. “I’m a prime example. I moved here from New York to get a backyard and a dog. It’s enjoyable and family oriented.”
Oakhurst residents can enjoy beach access at the W. Stanley Conover Beach Pavilion.
Public beach access at Conover Pavilion
Oakhurst is close to the beach and the boardwalk, presenting residents with many attractions and plenty to do when they want a little excitement. Public beach access can be found at various points along the coast, including at Conover Pavilion, a 2-mile drive from Oakhurst. Conover Pavilion offers daily admission for the public and season-long memberships for those looking to take full advantage of the proximity to the beach. Those who aren’t fans of sand can head to Joe Palaia Park. The park is 208 acres and is laced with hiking trails, which helps residents connect with nature. It also has more developed areas, containing a playground, sports fields where residents can play baseball and soccer and a disc golf course for those looking to get their steps in.
From older Cape Cods to spacious new-traditional homes
The neighborhood has a mixture of Cape Cods, ranch-style, and colonials, some of which need to be renovated or replaced with new construction and new traditional homes, creating a wide range of home prices. Homes in the neighborhood can go for anywhere from $350,000 for a home in need of a complete gut up to $1.5 million for a new traditional home with six bedrooms and over 4,000 square feet. “Homes are going quickly here if they are priced right,” Mizrahi says. “There are some bidding wars.” While some streets in Oakhurst have sidewalks, it is more of a car-dependent community. Walk Score gave the neighborhood a score of 8 out of 100. Oakhurst is also known as a relatively safe community. The CAP Index gave the neighborhood a Crime Score of 2 out of 10, significantly lower than the national average.
