Ocosta
Bottle Beach State Park and Johns River Dike Trail
Bottle Beach State Park is a recreation space on the northern edge of Ocosta with over 60 acres of land. “That's in the bay, so the other state parks are on the actual ocean. It’s not ocean water with ocean waves,” says broker Jennifer Custer who works with Windermere Real Estate Westport and has over a decade of experience in the area. Less cold and windy than the ocean, the park on the bay has a beach better suited for swimming. Over a hundred species of birds pass through the area, making its boardwalk trail a popular bird-watching spot for bald eagles and blue herons. Dogs are only allowed from November through February to avoid scaring birds during the spring and summer months. On the eastern edge of Ocosta in the Johns River State Wildlife Area, Johns River Dike Trail has a boat launch and a mile-long paved path along the waterway. The scenery includes evergreen thickets and meadows, where people can watch elk graze.Multi-acre lots and some waterside homes on Bayview Road
Centered around State Route 105, Ocosta has spacious yards and houses along the main road. There are also homes south of it on a network of residential streets. Some have multiple acres, barns or gates for horses, giving it a rural feel. Evergreen woods often surround the yards, lending them extra privacy and natural beauty. Custer describes the area as small, with some waterfront homes available on Bayview Road for clear views of the South Bay. The architectural styles include ranch-style homes, farmhouses, log cabins and contemporary homes. Ranch-style homes range from $300,000 to $600,000, while contemporary houses range from $500,000 to $700,000. There's also undeveloped land available, ranging from $20,000 to $200,000.Events at Ocosta Recreation Hall
Ocosta Recreation Hall, located on the western half of the community on Sixth Street, hosts yearly community events. The building is equipped with a kitchen, a stage with a sound system and an outdoor area with a playground. At the Annual Oyster Feed in May, residents can feast on all-you-can-eat oysters, enter a raffle and fundraise for Ocosta Recreation Hall. The Ocosta Booster Club Crab Feed invites locals to dine on a crab buffet as a fundraiser for the Ocosta public schools every March.Bay City Sausage and more retail
