Surrounded by quiet farmland, close to Hood River
Encompassed by farmland and orchards, and anchored by two fruit processing centers, Odell has a rural feel to it. The community is less than 8 miles away from the urban nucleus of the Upper Valley—the city of Hood River. “We prefer living where we’re not crammed house to house,” says Terri Martz, an Oregon-Washington broker for Don Nunamaker Realtors, who lives in the Upper Valley of the Hood River. “But when I want to go to stores, restaurants and breweries, I can go to town.”
Odell has gorgeous views of Mount Hood.
Downtown Hood River is a great place to enjoy the city life.

Homes separated by orchards and farmland
Ranch-style homes—some of which are manufactured—built from the 1960s onward are separated by farmland and fruit orchards. “If you want to live out in the orchards and have more property, you have to go into the Upper Valley,” Martz says. “You’re not going to find properties in Hood River with acreage.” Older, single-level homes can cost between $400,000 and $500,000, while new traditional builds with tuck-under garages constructed around 2020 usually fetch between $600,000 and $800,000. Newer builds often feature covered patios and nostalgic Craftsman details, many part of the Barrett Vista homeowners association. The Odell Mobile Home Park—near the Mount Hood Railroad tracks—rents lots for around $500 per month. Odell Creek flows through the neighborhood, and homes built along the water may be at an increased risk of potential flooding.

The fairgrounds also host the Blossom Festival Craft Fair on the third weekend of every April, just as the Hood River Valley blooms for springtime. For almost 30 years, vendors from across the Northwest have gathered to show off handcrafted jewelry, sewn goods, patio pieces, baked goods and other products.

Odell is nestled between two major Upper Valley thoroughfares: Oregon state Routes 35 and 281, also known as Dee Highway.
