Quiet community surrounded by amenities
Esmond Estates maintains a peaceful atmosphere close to some of Odessa’s most popular amenities. Homes are secluded from busy roads like East 42nd Street, which limits road noise, but still close enough to attractions like Music City Mall, less than 1 mile away. After a long day at school, kids can walk to Lions Club Park to play with their neighbors. There are several houses of worship in and around the community, which is important in a city where nearly half of the population identifies as religious according to the 2020 U.S. Religion Census. Downtown Odessa is about 5 miles away. Lifelong resident and Realtor with Heritage Real Estate Earl Anderson sums up the area, saying, “It’s a nice, family-friendly place to live that’s close to anywhere you’d want to be.”
Downtown Odessa is a vibrant, modern city retaining its cowboy vibes.

Music City Mall offers stores and eateries
Music City Mall has over 100 shops, including JCPenney and the only At Home in West Texas. “There’s every kind of thing you can imagine to buy,” Anderson says. Shoppers can grab a bite to eat from one of the food court vendors, such as Shoppers can grab a bite to eat at one of the food court vendors, such as Jaric Munchies & More, or one of the sit-down restaurants, like El Malecon Seafood & Bar, in the mall. There is more than retail and dining, with live music every weekend and Rink ‘N Roll, an indoor skating rink.
Bottoms Up Bar & Grill is a nearby sports bar known for its wings. Volcano is an Asian fusion eatery across East 42nd Street that serves more than 50 sushi rolls. Anderson recommends Jorge’s, a nearby Mexican restaurant that stands out from the others in the city. “Most of our Mexican restaurants are Tex-Mex, which is pretty heavy on cheese,” Anderson says. “Jorge’s is more traditional Mexican food.” The closest grocery store is H-E-B. Walmart, Target and Lowe’s are all within 1 mile.

Traditional architecture that blends together
Folks can stroll along the Esmond Estates’ sidewalks and find shade under the oak trees that dot the pebble and grassy lawns. Most homes have driveways that lead to one- or two-car garages, although the wide roads leave room for street parking. Brick and stone traditional architecture fills the community, with many houses built between the 1980s and 2010s. “The houses all conform together really well,” Anderson says. “They’re not alike, but they all blend.” Prices for a three- to four-bedroom single-family home typically range from $200,000 to $350,000. Some townhouses in the southern part of the neighborhood can cost $150,000 to $250,000. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) says Esmond Estates has a relatively moderate risk of tornadoes. Most standard homeowners’ insurance covers wind and storm damage.

Esmond Estates is part of the Ector County Independent School District. Both Blanton Elementary School and Nimitz Middle School earn a B-minus from Niche. Permian High School, which receives a C-plus, is known for its football team, the Permian Panthers. The team has six State Championship titles and is the inspiration for the movie and television show “Friday Night Lights.”
The University of Texas Permian Basin is about 1 mile away. It offers over 30 undergraduate and 25 graduate programs. Parts of the campus are open to the public, including the Stonehenge Replica and the Ellen Noël Art Museum. “It’s a lot of West Texas artists,” Anderson says. “We have more painters than anyone knows about.”
The Stonehenge replica is definitely worth a sight in Downtown Odessa.

Nearby parks, both big and small
Lions Club Park is one of several small parks within 1 mile of the neighborhood. The playground and basketball court are a short walk from most homes, and there is plenty of green space where kids can run around. Odessa’s largest park, Sherwood Park, is about 2 miles away. Its 57 acres include an aquatic center and the Ruben Pier Memorial Skatepark, which draws inspiration from the oil rigs that surround the city. A 1-mile walking trail winds through the park, taking people past the baseball fields where the Sherwood Little League practices.
