The wide streets are lined with a combination of ranch-style and manufactured homes and locally owned businesses. Hughes Construction & Remodeling is only a few blocks from Judy K’s Kountry Kitchen. Any other necessities, like groceries, parks and schools, are a short drive away. Smaller homes on large lots
While Greenfield Acres’ homes are smaller, averaging about 1,250 square feet, they can sit on as many as three acres of land. These spread-out properties allow residents plenty of privacy and room for small farming and gardening. “It’s got really good soil out there, so you’re able to garden,” says Montgomery, an avid gardener herself. There is a mix of older ranch styles from the mid-20th century and manufactured houses from the 2010s and 2020s. Prices for a single-family house typically range from $125,000 to $225,000, although homes are rarely available. “In the past 12 months, two houses have sold,” says Yvonne Rosas, a Realtor with eXp Realty who has worked in Odessa for about five years. Greenfield Acres receives a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4 out of 10. Although the neighborhood only sees about 15 inches of rain a year, the Federal Emergency Management Agency identifies part of it as a Special Flood Hazard Area. Flood insurance is recommended for all homeowners and required for anyone with a federally backed mortgage.
