The market is hot there right now.” When not spending time at their ranch-style or new-traditional home, residents enjoy nearby UTPB Park, which has activities for the whole family. Permian High, subject of Friday Night Lights

Residents in the North Country Club Estates neighborhood send their children to schools within the Ector County Independent School District. Starting in kindergarten, children attend Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary, which earns a C grade from Niche. From there, students move on to Nimitz Junior High before attending Permian High, both receiving a C-plus mark from Niche. Permian High’s 1988 football team was the subject of Friday Night Lights, a 1991 book and 2004 film. Tons of fun for children at UTPB Park

Right across Route 338 sits UTPB Park, which residents with children enjoy for its playground, splash pad and public pool. The park also connects one of the three walking trails through nature and around the university. Just south of UTPB Park is The Basin Sports Complex, which has a dozen softball/baseball and soccer fields and a basketball and volleyball court. Downtown Odessa’s 4th of July Fandango

Downtown Odessa has a 4th of July Fandango every Independence Day that’s popular among the community. “Fandango is really big,” Herriage says. “Last year we had 35,000 people at that event. This will be the 26th year. We will have a car show, two stages with live entertainment, a children's area, and fireworks downtown.” Odessa also has a Christmas parade. “Several thousand people line the streets for the event,” Herriage says.
