Airline
Dormer windows and the occasional shady veranda
Ranch-style homes and shotgun folk homes line the blocks of the Airline community. Short driveways often lead to shaded parking spots or single-car garages. Many properties were constructed in the late 40s with recent renovations. These homes typically offer two or three bedrooms and around 1,000 square feet. Residents looking to purchase a home can expect to find options ranging between $60,000 and $150,000, though renting is also popular in the area. One might stumble upon a colorful house or two, with vibrant blue or peach siding. But the majority of homes have more subtle nuances, like dormer windows or the occasional shady veranda.
The airport next door
Just 9 miles from Downtown Oklahoma City, commuters can expect to take I-40 north or hop on an EMBARK bus, a valued service of Oklahoma City’s transit system. Bus stops are frequented along S Portland Avenue, SW 29th Street and SW 44th Street. Will Rogers World Airport is conveniently located less than 4 miles south of most homes, a quick exit off I-44, Will Rogers Expressway. Community Hospital is adjacent to the airport on the east side of the interstate. Residents may also rely on Highway 152 to reach neighboring hubs like Mustang or Union City.Authentic Mexican fare at a low price
Family Dollar is situated off Newcastle Road, sharing a shopping center with the 29th Food Mart convenience store and restaurants like Tacoville, a counter-serve Mexican spot open since 1967. La Michoacana Supermarket is a mile east on SW 29th Street, and Carniceria El Rodeo is both a market and restaurant with piñatas in the aisles and massive helpings of authentic Mexican fare at a low price. The closest Walmart is about 4 miles west, near Draper Park. And Sam’s Club is just off I-40, about 4 miles north. On the way, folks can stop at Whataburger for hot, greasy burgers and fries.Woodson Park’s sports complexes
Woodson Park is right next door with a laundry list of amenities for outdoor and indoor recreation. Aside from its playground, baseball diamond, soccer field, walking trails and disc golf course, the park also offers a gymnasium and two sports complexes: Woodson Park Sports Complex to the east and Wendel Whisenhunt Sports Complex to the west. Just north in the Rockwood Addition, Lorraine Thomas Park also has a playground, basketball court and a large multi-use field. For residents looking to travel a bit further, River Park is situated along the Oklahoma River in Stockyard City. Once considered the meatpacking capital of OKC, Stockyard’s live cattle auctions take place every Monday and Tuesday. While in town, folks can hop on a river cruise or check out the North Canadian River Trail.

U.S. Grant High School has a C on Niche, encouraging athletic participation as well as offering clubs like JROTC and the National Honors Society. The largest Christmas store in Oklahoma
Oklahoma City provides its residents with a wide variety of annual events from the Memorial Marathon to the Oklahoma State Fair. But Airline locals can enjoy smaller-scale events in the Wheeler District, around 10 miles north in OKC’s southern suburbs. During the spring and summer, folks can attend the farmer’s market every Friday or ride the Wheeler Ferris Wheel. Once a Santa Monica treasure, the Ferris wheel is now located in the heart of the Wheeler District near Clarity Coffee and a variety of summer pop-up shops. Over the holidays, Airline is privy to the North Pole City Christmas store, the largest in the state of Oklahoma.Important to Know
