Suburban Neighborhood in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Oklahoma County 73099
Whether you’re a lifelong resident of Oklahoma or a recent transplant, chances are that you know about two of the state's quintessential phenomena. One is the famous cattle-driving route known as the Chisholm Trail. The other is the color of Oklahoma's clay soil: a deep, orange-brown hue also called sienna. Here in Chisholm Run-Siena, those terms are synonymous with something even more quintessentially Oklahoman: home. “It’s easy to feel like you’ve come home here,” says top Re/Max Energy Realtor Ryan Cole of this neighborhood, which owes its dual name to two additions in southern Yukon, close to the borders of Mustang and Oklahoma City. Cole: “Oklahoma does suburban living very well, and Chisholm Run and Siena are no exception. You have nice homes, lots of space, a great location and really good schools.”
You’ll find mainly new-construction homes in both Chisholm Run and Siena, in architectural styles ranging from Traditional and Dallas to Modern Farmhouse and Craftsman-inspired. Along the edges of the two developments, you’ll find more modest 1970s and ‘80s-era ranch-style homes. “Most of the homes are on at least a half-acre,” says Cole, noting that this part of the OKC metro is a good place to look for acreage. “Right here in the middle of Yukon and Mustang is still pretty affordable compared to a lot of other places with homes on an acre or two,” he explains. Prices here span the spectrum between $360,000 and $600,000. You can expect to pay close to $500,000 for a four-bedroom brick ranch-style home built in 1971, sprawled over 4 acres, featuring an attached two-car garage, a newly renovated chef’s kitchen and a detached, insulated shop. For a five-bedroom Craftsman-inspired home built in 2023 on half an acre, featuring a side-facing two-car garage and built-in appliances and ceiling-height cabinetry in the kitchen, the sale price tends to hover closer to the $545,000 mark.
The hidden, side-facing garages are a unique aspect of these homes when compared to those found in surrounding suburbs. “A lot of these neighborhoods have front-facing, attached garages, but these were designed so you can’t see them from the street,” says Cole, noting that the “cleaner” curb appeal of these additions appeals to homebuyers. “It’s something a little different, and people like that the first thing you see is the house, not the garage,” he explains.
But it’s the location that is the primary draw to Chisholm Run-Siena. “You’re so close to everything,” says Cole, explaining that shopping, dining and outdoor recreation are all within easy reach of the neighborhood. Less than 4 miles south of Interstate 40, you’re well-positioned to take advantage of the larger metro area’s amenities. But for your everyday shopping and dining, you can stay off the highway by visiting The Market at Czech Hall. “There’s all kinds of shopping, like Academy Sports and Ross, and nice sit-down restaurants, too,” says Cole. For groceries, many residents visit the Crest Foods just south of the shopping center, off Czech Hall Road within 3.5 miles of most homes.
Students in Chisholm Run and Siena attend schools in the highly sought-after Mustang Public Schools system. Youngsters between preschool and fourth grade go to Mustang Trails Elementary and older elementary schoolers go to Meadow Brook Intermediate for fifth and sixth grades. Mustang North Middle serves students in seventh and eighth grades while teens finish off their grade school careers at Mustang High School. Mustang Elementary, Mustang North Middle and Mustang High all boast B-plus grades from Niche, while Meadow Brook Intermediate boasts an A. “Mustang is a great school district,” says Cole, noting that many of his clients look for homes in this area specifically for the schools.
From its beautiful homes and enviable location to its highly rated schools, it’s easy to see why Chisholm Run-Siena residents are so at home here.
