A trendy spot close to downtown OKC
Located northwest of downtown Oklahoma City, the Corridor South neighborhood is part of the broader Uptown area, featuring the Asian District in the south part of the neighborhood and Memorial Park in the northern part. The neighborhood is long and narrow and is flanked by North Classen Boulevard to the west and North Western Avenue to the east. Some neighborhood streets have sidewalks, and the neighborhood layout means many restaurants along Classen Boulevard are within walking distance.
Large Asian population
The Asian District is often called “Little Saigon” by people in the area. Many cultures around Asia are represented in the restaurants and businesses along Classen Boulevard and 23rd Street. Some of the restaurants on Classen include Pho Cuong, a mom-and-pop local eatery getting rave reviews for its pho and spicy beef and pork noodle soup. Also on North Classen is Sharetea, known for its authentic bubble tea with ingredients shipped directly from Taiwan. Groceries are available at Chinatown Supermarket on 27th Street. Other cultures are represented in the neighborhood, including Guatemalan food at Café Kacao, with many dishes featuring corn tortillas. It’s also been voted the best breakfast spot in OKC by the Oklahoma Gazette, the local arts and entertainment magazine, in 2022. The giant milk bottle towering over the Milk Bottle Grocery on North Classen is a business sign that gets plenty of attention. The historic OKC landmark, used as an advertisement for the dairy industry, has drawn the eye of Route 66 travelers since 1930.

Modestly built century-old homes
Along Corridor South's narrow streets, homes from the early 20th century are spaced close together. “It’s a nice area of town with older houses,” says Rex Baker, a Realtor with Metro First Realty Group with about five years of experience. “It’s one of the comeback areas of Oklahoma City where some homes are being refurbished or being knocked down and rebuilt.” Home styles in the neighborhood include Craftsman, bungalow, Minimal Traditional, and a Victorian-style duplex. Aside from the duplex, which is nearly 3,000 square feet, the homes are mainly between 1,000 and 2,000 square feet with three bedrooms. With the age of the houses, it’s common to have a detached garage, but some also have a carport. The price range of the homes is between $150,000 and $330,000. About 65% of the people in Corridor South rent their homes.

Even the park is over 100 years old
Memorial Park spans the width of the community and sits at the northern edge south of the intersection of Western Avenue and 36th Street. The park offers a maze of paved walking paths through green spaces. The lighted paths wrap around playground climbing equipment, tennis courts, soccer fields and picnic shelters. OKC’s sprawling flagship youth center, the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County, overlooks the park's eastern side. The center provides a place where kids can go after school to grow beyond the classroom.

Never far away from essential places
People living in the Oklahoma City area say that you can reach most locations in less than 20 minutes if you're centrally located. That’s the case for traveling to Will Rogers World Airport, a 19-minute drive. St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma is only a few miles to the south, and there are several opportunities to catch the bus traveling north or south on Classen Boulevard. “It’s not even that far of a walk to the downtown area. If you have a Lime (electric scooter), it’s an easy commute,” Baker says.
