Sought-after northern OKC enclave
Douglas Edgemere sits at the crossroads of many of Oklahoma City’s best amenities, boasting historic homes and a great sense of community. "It's a quiet, less trafficked pocket near some higher-priced Historic Preservation neighborhoods," says Anya Mashaney, Realtor, broker and co-owner of Spaces Real Estate. Residents can spend their day taking in the views from Douglas Park, located in the center of the neighborhood, and an active volunteer neighborhood association that provides a great chance to build bonds with neighbors. The community is located just 5 miles from the midtown and downtown areas of OKC, making it a draw for folks seeking a home near OKC's urban core at an accessible price point.

Green space is a magnet for the community. "It has a huge, wonderful neighborhood park known as one of the best snow sledding parks in the city. We don't get much snow in Oklahoma City, but when we do, Douglas Park is where you want to go," Mashaney adds. In warmer months, Douglas Park is a great place to take the dog for a walk, hang out with friends and neighbors at the lovely gazebo or let the kids run and climb on the playground.

Midcentury homes and new builds
Postwar traditional homes and ranches built in the 1940s into the early '50s are common throughout Douglas Edgemere, as well as homes built around the turn of the 20th century. "There's midcentury modern architecture you won't find anywhere else in Oklahoma City," says Lindsay Greene, a real estate agent with The Agency. Without the restrictions that come with historic preservation, homeowners in the neighborhood have more liberty in updating their homes, and in some cases, homes are completely rebuilt into nearly million-dollar properties. However, prices by and large stay between $250,000 for two-bedroom homes and $450,000 for spacious midcentury ranches, which is lower than many homes in surrounding neighborhoods.
