Fenwick: convenient and well-kept

Fenwick is one of many family-friendly suburbs where Edmond and Oklahoma City's outskirts meet. But those who snag a 2000s-era property in one of its gated or ungated enclaves quickly realize that lots of care goes into keeping the neighborhood in its peak condition. "I've never seen an HOA as active as the one Fenwick has," says Mark Parrish, a top Realtor with Whittington Realty and a major Fenwick fan. "A lot of neighborhoods nowadays have an HOA, but sometimes, when you visit these other places, their roads are horrible. Fenwick is one of those unique neighborhoods where the HOA actually does what they say they'll do."

Gated and non-gated communities

Neighbors push strollers or walk their dogs along quiet cul-de-sacs that branch out from main roads throughout Fenwick's three designated communities. The Fenwick and Fenwick Garden Village communities in the south half are gated and come with an extra HOA fee. Home prices across all of Fenwick range from $300,000 to over $450,000, though prices inch up to $450,000 or $500,000 when they have updated features. "Newcomers to the neighborhood often say that the homes seem ahead of their time," Parrish says. The neighborhood was conceived in the early 2000s, but the New Traditional-style homes sport modern open-concept floor plans and three-car garages. Interiors have brick or natural wood accents, and spacious backyards often contain vibrant pools and shady patio additions.

Attending Edmond Public Schools

Many Fenwick students attend West Field Elementary School, Summit Middle School and Santa Fe High School, all part of the highly sought-after Edmond Public Schools system. The Santa Fe Wolves are so well-known for their competitive athletic programs that Niche ranks it the third-best public school for athletics in the Oklahoma City metro area. Students at Santa Fe are proud to participate in the yearly Double Dare Wolf Week, a fun-filled spirit week that raises money for a local non-profit. All three schools also earn overall A ratings from Niche.

Neighborhood events and Edmond's Art Scene

Besides road repairs and pond maintenance, Fenwick neighbors look to their HOA for community events hosted by the Social Committee. These range from kid-friendly fun like the annual Breakfast with Santa and Easter egg hunts to regular wine socials. The Fenwick Frogs summer league swim team makes a splash each season at the clubhouse pool. And 6 miles away, Edmond's arts scene – centered around 2nd Street north of Broadway – beckons the Fenwick community, too. Folks pop into booths during the annual arts festival and the monthly come-and-go art walk, and they discover local artists at the monthly Heard on Hurd music festival.

Pocket parks and ponds

When they're not at the neighborhood pool or clubhouse, locals are often spotted at the pocket parks and fishing ponds scattered throughout the Fenwick community. When they want to make a day of it, they drive further out to the playground, rolling greens, and pond access at Brown Park or the seasonal Green Frog Splash Pad. And all that Arcadia Lake has to offer is 10 miles east.

Shops and eateries near Fenwick

Residents can head into Edmond to enjoy everything from the local farmers market to brand-new outdoor food courts like the Icehouse Project and the Railyard. And 4 miles south, Memorial Road is lined with a Costco, Cabela's and the expansive Quail Springs Mall. "Gordon Ramsay is getting ready to put in his new restaurant right there off of Memorial, too," Parrish says. However, Fenwick residents don't need to go that far for everyday groceries. Their local Walmart Neighborhood Market is less than a quarter mile from most homes in the neighborhood's southeast corner.

Getting to downtown Edmond and OKC

Besides walking through the neighborhood, residents of Fenwick need cars to get around. Locals take major thoroughfares like Memorial Road and the Kilpatrick Turnpike to traverse the rest of Edmond. A 14-mile drive down US 77 South takes commuters and citygoers to downtown Oklahoma City; to reach Will Rogers World Airport, they head to the other side of OKC in 22 miles. Oklahoma ER & Hospital sits less than two miles southwest of the community.

Fenwick: part of OKC or Edmond?

While technically located within Oklahoma City limits, Fenwick is functionally a part of Edmond. Residents have Edmond mailing addresses and are zoned for Edmond Public Schools. However, residents use OKC utilities for electricity and gas — a benefit because Edmond utilities are a bit more expensive.
