Linwood Place’s historic houses and relaxed feel have made it popular with homebuyers.
Residential comforts in one of OKC’s oldest neighborhoods
Bounded by Interstate 44 in the northwest quadrant of the city, Linwood Place is one of Oklahoma City’s oldest communities, a fact that shows in the neighborhood’s historic homes and pedestrian-friendly, tree-lined streets. Lola Adeyemi, a longtime resident and Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Elite, says, “It’s the best neighborhood to call home.” According to Adeyemi, when she and her family were searching for their dream home, Linwood Place was the only neighborhood in Oklahoma City that checked all their boxes. “It’s a good, central place in the city, so we love the location. But we were also looking for a specific type of house, and we found what we were looking for here,” she says. Considered to be an in-demand market, homebuyers are attracted to this neighborhood for its friendly, suburban feel despite its convenient city location that puts schools and parks within walking distance.
Historic homes that range from modest to sprawling
With most houses built in and around the 1930s, homebuyers will find a wide range of home styles on display in Linwood Place. Craftsman bungalows sit side-by-side with brick-clad Tudors and stately Colonial Revivals on generously sized lots, while more modest Minimal Traditional-style homes perch closer together. Some are spacious, featuring extra rooms above the garage or guest quarters in the back, though more compact floorplans barely have 1,000 square feet. Fittingly, prices vary just as much; homes start from $150,000 and can list as high as $550,000, with the median hovering around $230,000. “The houses here are really beautifully maintained,” Adeyemi says. “That’s why the prices can be a little bit higher than in some of the neighborhoods farther south. People have put a lot of work into keeping these older homes updated and looking nice.”

Walk the dog or bring the family to one of the neighborhood parks
With two neighborhood parks, residents are never far from fresh air. “There are a lot of places for kids to play, and people are always out walking their dogs,” Adeyemi says. Wayman’s Park and Girvin Park are both a short walk from many homes and feature colorful playgrounds and paved walking trails. Will Rogers Park, just two miles north across Interstate 44, provides even more robust opportunities for outdoor recreation. According to Adeyemi, summer camps offered by the Aquatics and Tennis Centers are especially popular with families. And there’s plenty more to do year-round, whether it’s a relaxing stroll through the gardens or a game of rugby on the pitch.
