Macklanburg Park has suburban vibes and ample shops and restaurants
Less than 2 miles south of the John Kilpatrick Turnpike, Macklanburg Park in northern Oklahoma City was developed in the early ‘70s. The namesake park is at the heart of the neighborhood and is a central fixture for families and community members who take advantage of the park and its recreation center. A wide range of shopping, dining, parks and entertainment options are within a 3-mile radius of the neighborhood, and turnover is rare. “There’s lots of shopping, and the proximity to the turnpike is fantastic,” says Whitney Mendenhall, a Realtor with Keller Williams Elite. “You’re probably 12 to 15 minutes to downtown OKC so you can easily go to the Thunder games and all of that.”

Only 2 miles from Chisholm Creek retail and entertainment
As is the case with many well-established suburban communities, convenience is a large part of Macklanburg Park’s popularity. Perhaps one of the best perks is the neighborhood’s proximity to the Chisholm Creek retail and entertainment district. The district has restaurants like Riserva Bar + Tapas, which serves up globally inspired small plates, and Chicken Foot, a fried chicken joint also known for its fresh cinnamon rolls. “There’s lots of fun things to do at Chisholm Creek that they do throughout the summer and the spring,” Mendenhall says, such as a summer concert series and movie nights. Everyday essentials are nearby at Walmart, Sam’s Club and the Quail Springs Mall only 2 miles from the community. Cornish Jerkhouse on Pennsylvania Avenue is a Jamaican-inspired smokehouse known for its stuffed turkey legs, soulful sides and buckets of island-themed drinks.

Some, but not all, streets have sidewalks on one side, which students use to walk to John Marshall Middle School about a half-mile away on the southern edge of the neighborhood. Most homes have brick exteriors and attached two-car garages, while stone fireplaces and built-in bookshelves add midcentury charm to the interiors. Two-bedroom townhomes can cost between $125,000 and $200,000, while ranch-style homes range from $200,000 to $330,000. Prices increase with additional space, renovations and amenities such as a pool.
