A walkable OKC neighborhood west of Interstate 44
Not many westside Oklahoma City neighborhoods have a center boulevard with a grassy median dotted by streetlights, but Musgrave-Pennington is one of them. Originally built to be traversed by streetcars in the early 1900s, NW 19th Street today helps give this neighborhood its city-suburban feel. “To call it a traditional suburb, you’d be missing part of what makes it so special: how accessible everything is. You’re just so much closer to everything you could need here,” says Lola Adeyemi, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Elite, who’s been selling homes in OKC for more than 15 years. While the essentials are nearby, Musgrave-Pennington is just 4 miles west of downtown and blocks away from several major thoroughfares, making it easy to access all the city has to offer.
Located just four miles from downtown, and is near Interstate 44 for easy access.

Brick and stone ranch-style homes
Small residential blocks branch off NW 19th Street, the central neighborhood artery. Along wide and calm concrete streets, buyers will find primarily 1950s and 1960s stone or brick ranch-style homes resting on grassy lots dwarfed by tall mature trees. Prices here tend to be less than the Oklahoma City average, typically ranging from around $120,000 to $250,000. Homes needing major renovation can go for under $100,000. In contrast, homes featuring freshly refinished hardwood floors and kitchens updated with stone counters, modern geometric tile backsplashes and sleek gold fixtures can top $250,000.
Modern remodeled ranch-style homes can be found in Musgrave-Pennington.

Crest Foods within walking distance
For groceries, many Musgrave-Pennington residents take advantage of the community’s walkability by visiting their local Crest Foods, which is less than a mile away off Meridian Avenue. Clustered around Meridian and nearby MacArthur Boulevard, there are plenty of dining options, from national fast-food chains to beloved local taquerias. For a sweet treat, head to Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store. “There’s a lot to do around Meridian and MacArthur, but it’s not like downtown by any means. It’s definitely more family-friendly type entertainment around here,” says Adeyemi, who notes that for a fancy date night or a night on the town without the kids many residents prefer to head to the Midtown or Bricktown districts.

Bike to Will Rogers Park
In true city-suburb style, Musgrave-Pennington residents can enjoy being within walking distance of several public parks. Harlow, E.B. Jeffrey and Grant Corbin Parks are less than a mile from most homes. Children have their pick of the three classic, colorful playgrounds to burn off their energy, but the sprayground at Jeffrey Park off 16th Street is a summertime favorite to beat the heat. Residents seeking access to athletic facilities like tennis courts and an aquatic center, as well as beautifully manicured gardens, can bike along the mixed-use trail parallel to Grand Boulevard to reach Will Rogers Park.

Lined with sidewalks, Tulsa Avenue provides a north-south route and connects residents to EMBARK bus stops along NW 23rd Street. Houses of Worship
Standing at the neighborhood’s eastern border of Portland Avenue is St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Constructed in the early 1960s, about a decade after Musgrave-Pennington was established, the church has been recognized locally and internationally for its architecture, but it also plays an important role in the community. As the Hispanic population increased in the neighborhood, the church added a Spanish Mass in 2003. It serves hundreds of Hispanic families today, hosting quinceaneras and offering bilingual masses on certain Holy Days. For those looking for other faith communities, there are more than a dozen houses of worship near the neighborhood, including Portland Avenue Baptist Church, non-denominational OKC Church, reform synagogue Temple B'nai Israel and Baps Oklahoma Hindu Temple.
