Close to two major Oklahoma City, or OKC to locals, thoroughfares and just minutes from Lake Hefner, Northhaven is known for its classic 1980s homes. As a primarily residential neighborhood, residents will have to travel beyond its boundaries to access grocery shopping and other amenities. “Northhaven is such a beautiful neighborhood, with beautiful 80s architecture,” says Becky Ivins, Broker with Movers Real Estate. “The main reason people move here is for the houses.”
Ranch homes with a light, airy feel
The ranch-style homes here feature architectural details influenced by Craftsman and Prairie styles, from rich earth tones to natural façade materials. Two-car garages face streets lined with sidewalks. Lots here range from 5,000 to 7,000 square feet, giving Northhaven homeowners space to spread out in the city. Most homes here date back to the 80s, and developers put a lot of effort into making the interiors light, airy and open. “You’ve got inside emphasis here, with decorative railings on the staircases and vaulted ceilings,” Ivins says. Homes in Northhaven tend to list higher than the city average, ranging from $200,000 to $275,000, with prices fluctuating depending on the square footage. Even with prices higher than other OKC neighborhoods, Northhaven’s lot sizes and proximity to commercial life and Lake Hefner make it attractive.
