Rancho Village has a strong Mexican culinary and retail presence, bringing authentic flavors and local favorites to the neighborhood. El Chilango makes street-style tacos and cooks their meat on a giant rotating skewer. Their restaurant also celebrates luchador culture with wrestler masks painted on the façade and lined inside. Tizo’s Pops and Ice Cream was founded in OKC to bring the tradition of Mexican-style ice cream and popsicles to the city. One of their specials is the picaleta popsicle, dipped in chamoy and topped with sweet and sour chili powder.

Arts festivals and parades in downtown OKC

Because of Rancho Village’s proximity to downtown OKC, residents can go into the city to participate in annual events and traditions. The Festival of Arts is an OKC spring tradition that has entertained the area for over 50 years. Locals can gather to celebrate artists of the city, from art vendors to live performances. The Oklahoma State Fair occurs in early fall, offering great local food and live music alongside the fairground attractions. On the Fourth of July, the city sports festivals, concerts from the state philharmonic orchestra and a fantastic fireworks show for free.

Study art and engineering at Oklahoma City Public Schools

Schools in Rancho Village are part of the Oklahoma City Public Schools district. Fillmore Elementary School offers a science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) program for students to connect them with this field and boost their creative thinking and problem-solving. For middle school, students from Fillmore continue to Webster Middle School. Capitol Hill High School has an Academy of the Arts, where students can focus on one artistic area, like dance, drama, guitar, visual arts or voice. Their Academy of Engineering aims to provide students with field experience and hands-on learning activities in the subject. All three schools receive a C-minus from Niche.

Brock Creek and water parks near Rancho Village

While Racho Village is more residential and commercial, locals can find green spaces just outside the neighborhood boundaries. To the north, Brock Park offers walking paths throughout the green. Brock Creek flows through the area to guide visitors through the park. Youngs Park has a vibrant playground and a water park for kids in the summer with buckets, cannons and levers to increase water play.

Fly home to Rancho Village

Will Rogers World Airport is also only 5 miles from the neighborhood, connecting residents to the rest of the country through major airlines like Delta, Southwest and United. When getting around Rancho Village, the 016 bus stops along South Pennsylvania Avenue, including a stop at Brock Park for public access to the park. The neighborhood also sits within a mile of INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center, which has served the community for over 50 years. In addition to its emergency and surgical services, it also has a cancer institute and heart hospital for more specialized care.
