Where can you enjoy all the amenities western Oklahoma City has to offer, paired with a highly sought-after Yukon ZIP code and Mustang schools? In Somers Pointe, situated 2 miles south of Interstate 40, close to where western OKC and southern Yukon meet. Erin Yarbrough, director of marketing for Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods, describes it best: “Somers Pointe is an incredible established neighborhood offering a quiet and friendly community with close access to shopping, dining and excellent schools.” But don’t just take her word for it. Homebuyers across the country are flocking to this part of Oklahoma.

You’ll find mainly Traditional, Dallas-style homes here, closely spaced on the gently curving residential streets. Many feature those hallmarks of Oklahoman suburbs: tall cedar privacy fences; front-facing, attached garages; and front lawns stretching from manicured garden beds to neatly edged sidewalks. While Somers Pointe homes are all similar enough in form to create a cohesive community vibe, Yarbrough notes: “It offers a wide range of home styles so that no two look exactly alike. This is truly a place where homeowners feel like they have a unique and inviting home.” Some feature Prairie-inspired exterior design details like hipped roofs and rectangular front porch columns, while others favor Craftsman and farmhouse-inspired details like exposed roof rafters and natural wood shutters.

A large part of Somers Pointe’s appeal is not only how varied the homes are in style, but also how varied they are in size. Yarbrough notes that they range from 1,200 square feet all the way up to 2,700 square feet. Home values here tend to increase with square footage, with the low end of the spectrum hovering around $350,000 and the high end soaring close to $550,000. For a 2,000-square-foot, Dallas-style home built in 2023, featuring a unique combination of brick, stacked stone and vertical siding, sleek quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen and wide-plank hardwood flooring, you can expect to pay around the $380,000 mark.

Somers Pointe students attend schools in the highly rated Mustang Public Schools system. Many go to Mustang Trails Elementary, Meadow Brook Intermediate, Mustang North Middle and Mustang High School, all four of which boast Overall Niche Grades of B-plus or higher. Mustang High also boasts a 10/10 GreatSchools rating for college readiness. Each of the four schools is within 7.5 miles of most homes, but at about 2 miles southeast, Mustang Trails and Meadow Brook Intermediate are the closest.

Residents of all ages don’t need to venture even that far to enjoy the great outdoors, with Somers Pointe Park off Hutton Road within half a mile of most homes. The park is considered a community highlight, according to Yarbrough, who says, “Neighbors love to get together at the large, central park, which features a splash pad, playground, gazebo and sports field.” The neighborhood's catch-and-release ponds, connected to the park and surrounding residential streets by a neat web of walking trails, are another favorite feature.

With I-40 just over 2 miles north, Somers Pointe offers easy access to the wider metro area as well. For their groceries, many residents head just a mile and a half north up Cemetery Road to Aldi or Crest Foods, in two of the shopping centers sprawling along the interstate. Beyond your weekly food shop, hop on I-40 and head east into town for a dose of retail therapy at the OKC Outlets just over 6 miles away.

Thanks to an enviable location that blends urban convenience with a peaceful suburban atmosphere and great schools, it’s easy to see why homebuyers are flocking here.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
