Close to historic Route 66 in OKC
Stonebridge Lake Estates is a gated community just off the historic U.S. Route 66, one of the original highways in the United States Numbered Highway System. Oklahoma City has the most drivable parts of the landmark route compared to every other state, with several roadside attractions. “In 2026, it will be the 100th anniversary of Route 66, so there is going to be a ton of festivals and parties in the area celebrating it,” Jenna Lovelace says. Lovelace is the communications manager for VisitOKC and has lived in the city for years. Residents of Stonebridge Lake Estates have this historic landmark right in their backyard.

Take a kayak to Lake Overholser
There aren’t any parks inside the gated community, but locals aren’t far from outdoor recreation activities. Rolo’s Beach is a short distance outside the area, where people can go hiking and exploring in the northwest corner of Lake Overholser. Laker Overholser is one of the most popular lakes in the city. It was named after the 16th mayor of OKC, Ed Overholser. The Lake has a boat house on the east shore to access kayaking and paddle boarding. Route 66 Park is on the west shore of the Lake, where locals can take the kids or their pets to play outside. The area includes picnic tables, barbeque grills, slides, swings and other amenities. Across Route 66 is Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, a popular recreation location with tons of green space, rivers and natural surroundings.
Route 66 Park can be found just outside of Stonebridge Estates.

High marks for Yukon schools
Students will begin at Ranchwood Elementary, an A-minus-graded school for pre-kindergarten through third-grade students. The school has performances throughout the year, including a winter musical. They will next attend Redstone Intermediate, an A-minus school for fourth-grade through sixth-grade students. Everyone gets into the holiday spirit with the student and staff reindeer games, a series of games and challenges to have fun. The next stop on their academic adventures is Yukon Middle School, which receives a B-plus. Students can participate in athletics like wrestling, basketball and softball. Teenagers will attend Yukon High School, a B institution that offers clubs like aerospace and aeronautics, health occupations, and student council.
Stock up at Lakeview Market
The gated community has few restaurants, but residents don’t have to travel far for necessities. Lakeview Market is the closest place, a farmer’s market where all the products are sourced from local farmers and producers. Residents can also head down Route 66 and find a Walmart Neighborhood Market to pick up their meats, produce, dairy items and pantry favorites. Swing by Summer Moon Coffee across Route 66 for a morning cup and freshly baked pastries. Locals can go in the opposite direction on Route 66 and find Birriera Diaz, a popular Mexican restaurant serving favorites like tacos and enchiladas. Major retailers like Walmart and Target are a short drive outside the neighborhood.

A vehicle is necessary in OKC
The neighborhood, like most of OKC, is very car-dependent. The area could be more walkable, and the public transportation is limited. "Oklahoma City is so spread out that getting around without a car can be difficult unless you're downtown," says Lovelace. Residents can easily access the highway and the John Kilpatrick Turnpike to get around the city.
