For more adventurous spirits, Lake Hefner sits less than 3 miles from the Twin Lakes neighborhood. At Lake Hefner, visitors can enjoy everything from walking and biking trails to sailing and paddleboarding lessons. There's even a skatepark, perfect for practicing kickflips and ollies.
"Twin Lakes has a good ambiance, with higher-end homes and a lot of lakefront properties," explains Ivins. Surrounding the neighborhood’s lakes are the backyards of ranch and millennium mansion-style homes built in the late 1970s and 1980s that line its curved residential streets. Each is seen with either brick or stone exteriors and front-facing two-car garages. The houses sit atop maintained front yards, thanks to homeowners associations, which can be found throughout. Those looking to purchase a home in the community can expect a price range from $150,000 for a two-bedroom home to $320,000 for a larger, four-bedroom house.
When looking to get involved in events by the water, locals of the area head to Lake Hefner, about a mile from the community. The popular Redrock Canyon Grill hosts a Summer Concert Series every Thursday evening, where guests can enjoy food paired with live performances from local musicians. Within eyeshot is Stars and Striped Park, which is where many head to watch a Fourth of July fireworks show take place over the lake.
Twin Lakes sits just 2 miles from Rockwell Plaza Shopping Center along the Northwest Expressway, lined with big-box stores like Target and Aldi for retail and grocery needs, as well as a handful of restaurants. For food and fun combined, residents head to Incredible Pizza Company, where guests can take advantage of an all-you-can-eat buffet and ride on the spinning roller coaster. Coffee and breakfast can be picked up closer to home at Provisions Coffee & Bakery on North 63rd Street before exploring charming vintage home accessories at the Feathered Nest Market just a few blocks away.
Young students will begin their journey at Tulakes Elementary School, which has received a C grade from Niche. Older students will attend Cooper Middle School, which has earned a C-plus on Niche before attending Putnam City High School. The home of the Pirates has received a B-minus from Niche and is where students join a number of student clubs, including the Science Olympiad, art club and Esports gaming.
Thanks to the nearby Interstate 44, those commuting downtown can reach the city center in an 11.4-mile drive. The same route can also take travelers to the Will Rogers World Airport, which sits just 4 miles farther south. Alongside this, those attending nearby colleges, like Grace College and Southern Nazarene University, can get to class less than three miles south of the neighborhood. Even closer to home is the INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, which can be reached in a 2.9-mile trip along the Northwest Expressway.
Bordering Twin Lakes to the east is the Wiley Post Airport. Flights coming in and out of the airport are mostly private jets and charters, meaning flights are less frequent than public airports. Though, the sound of overhead planes can be considered background noise to some, those who are sensitive to the sound should consider this before moving into the neighborhood.
