Willow Creek is well-positioned at the hub of northwest Oklahoma City, within 2 miles of both the Kilpatrick Turnpike and the Northwest Expressway. eXp Realtor Kathy Parker says she and her family “just love the northwest side of town,” noting that “living this close to the two major highways makes it super easy to get anywhere you need to go super quickly.” To borrow a line from Toad in Kenneth Grahame’s beloved novel “The Wind in the Willows,” in this part of the city, you have “the whole world before you and a horizon that’s always changing.”
Wind in Willow Creek rustles through the quiet community’s towering post oaks and pines, which shade neat rows of Traditional and ranch-style homes. “It’s an older neighborhood, with houses from the ‘70s and ‘80s,” says Parker, adding that the homes’ ages give them character and personality that homes in newer neighborhoods nearby lack. “It’s just a classic, established little neighborhood with homes that still have the individuality that builder-grade homes from the early 2000s don’t tend to have,” she says. For a typical mid-1970s brick ranch with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an attached two-car garage, you can expect to pay around $210,000. “That’s on the lower end of the price range,” observes Parker. “You’ll see homes go for anywhere between $210,000 and $350,000 or a little higher,” she notes. 1980s-era Traditional-style homes with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and attached two-car garages tend to sell for about $355,000, close to the median for the metro.
With the Kilpatrick Turnpike and Northwest Expressway close by, Willow Creek offers easy access to the rest of the city. “You’re sandwiched between the two malls that we have in the city,” Parker says, referring to Quail Springs and Penn Square. “And there’s Lake Hefner nearby and all kinds of restaurants,” she adds, noting that it’s the convenience of the location that made her fall in love with the northwest side of town when she first moved here nearly 25 years ago. For date night, Parker says that many residents head to the east side of Lake Hefner for the waterfront restaurants. Her two favorites are Mama Roja Mexican Kitchen and Hefner Grill, just over 6 miles away across the lake. “But they’re all really good because you can sit out on a deck on the water at most of them, so it’s real waterfront dining,” she gushes. To pick up everyday essentials, or their weekly groceries, residents can stick even closer to home. Both Sprouts Farmers Market and Crest Foods are just 2.5 miles east of most homes.
Willow Creek students attend schools in the highly sought-after Putnam City Schools system. Many go to Will Rogers Elementary, Hefner Middle and Putnam City North High School, all three of which boast B grades from Niche. Parker, whose two children both went to P.C. North, notes that “they excelled there, and college was a breeze for them because they got a good education.”
In northeast OKC with the city spread out before you and such easy access to nearby amenities and amazing schools, it’s easy to feel on top of the world in Willow Creek.
