Small residential pocket with access to downtown OKC
Tucked away off NW 36th Street, Windsor Highland is a small residential pocket in Oklahoma City. Older homes and access to nearby Will Rogers Park set it apart, but ease of access to downtown is the neighborhood's biggest selling point. “You’re just a few minutes from Midtown, not too far from downtown and Bricktown,” says Rick McCormick, Realtor with eXp Realty. “Oklahoma City, starting from downtown and moving that direction, has been in a bit of a renaissance for the last number of years. It’s a draw that 30 blocks down the street, you’re in downtown.”

Older ranch-style homes in Windsor Highland
Shaded by tall oak trees on well-maintained front lawns, the narrow residential streets of Windsor Highland often lead to cul-de-sacs. Many area homes were built between the 1950s and ’60s, though newer construction has filled in some of the neighborhood’s empty lots over the past 50 years. “There are a lot of millennials,” McCormick says. “They like the character of the older houses. Surprisingly, there’s a lot of young people looking for those homes because they have more character.” Most of the single-family homes are ranch-style, with a handful of duplexes sprinkled in. Single-family homes generally sell between $125,000 and the low $200,000s, while duplexes go between $170,000 and $200,000. However, the market is slow in the neighborhood: Just one home sold in the past 12 months.
Windsor Highland also features split-level homes as another housing option.

Watching the monarch migration at Will Rogers Park
Directly across Geraldine Avenue, Geraldine Park has a playground, a picnic shelter and a walking trail. However, the most prominent nearby attraction is Will Rogers Park, which features a tennis center, a pool and disc golf. The gardens are its biggest draw. Residents visit all year, especially in the fall to see migrating butterflies. “It’s actually a really great place to see monarchs as they’re migrating through,” says Carrie Jacobs, the public information and marketing manager for OKC Parks. “They plant all kinds of stuff that the monarchs enjoy, so that’s a really special thing for residents to come see.”
