Neighborhood in Olympia, Washington
Thurston County 98502
Large lots with woodsy backyards
Most homes in Burbank-Elliott were built in the mid-to-late-20th century, and range in style from split-level and ranch-style homes to more contemporary two-story designs. The lots in this area tend to be larger than those found in more recently developed parts of Olympia, providing residents with ample outdoor space. Many properties in the area also back up onto local forests, giving local backyards a woodsy feel. Homes in the neighborhood sell for anywhere from $400,000 to $700,000.Burri Park and the Bay
Burri Park is the neighborhood’s major green space. It features basketball courts, a playground and a short wooded, walking loop. Just a mile southeast of the neighborhood, West Bay Park offers walking trails through local forests and along the water. West Bay Park is also a popular boat launch site for smaller watercraft. The bay itself is a popular recreation spot for many Burbank-Elliott residents. While the neighborhood isn’t on the water, it’s close enough that boat ownership is common, and kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing are popular hobbies.Capital High’s Tech Prep program
The area’s public schools are run by the Olympia School District. Leland P. Brown Elementary has a B-plus grade on Niche, while Jefferson Middle School has an A grade. Capital High School has an A-minus and runs a Tech Prep program in partnership with nearby South Puget Sound Community College that prepares students for careers in applied sciences.Getting around Olympia
The main roads serving the neighborhood are West Bay Drive and Division Street. These roads lead to downtown Olympia and connect to major highways such as US Route 101. It’s about 2.5 miles from the neighborhood to both downtown and the highway. Buses pass by the neighborhood along Division Street every 30 minutes and offer direct connections to the Olympia Transit Center and downtown Olympia.Proximity to Harrison Avenue shops and downtown Olympia
Burbank-Elliott and most of the surrounding areas are entirely residential, so locals typically head to nearby commercial areas to do their shopping. Harrison Avenue, located 1.5 miles south of the neighborhood, is the closest major retail corridor. It’s home to multiple supermarkets, a variety of chain restaurants and shops, and the Capital Village Shopping Center, which has multiple big box stores, including Target and REI. Dining options in the immediate vicinity of Burbank are sparse, though the neighborhood is just a few blocks inland of longstanding local seafood restaurant Tugboat Annie’s, known for its immense sandwiches, West Bay views and live music. When residents want a bit of culinary variety, they generally head to the Olympia Downtown Historic District for dozens of options.
