The Seasons
Contemporary homes with Craftsman influences
With the exception of a few midcentury developments on its south side, most homes in The Seasons were built in the 1990s and early 2000s. These properties generally feature contemporary designs with Craftsman influences. The neighborhood’s location on the edge of town means lot sizes are often larger than in more centrally located neighborhoods, often 1/4 acre or more. Garages are common, as are backyards that back up into local woods. New 55+ housing developments are coming up at the Ovation at Oak Tree and The Village. These new developments, along with some other areas in the center of the neighborhood, are fairly close to the local train tracks, which connect Seattle and Portland, and varying levels of rail noise are definitely audible in these areas. Midcentury ranch-style homes on the south side can be found in the $400,000 to $500,000 range, while the rest of the neighborhood's housing stock typically sells for between $500,000 and $700,000 — though luxury homes on the far north end can go for more than that. The Seasons has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, below the national average of 4 out of 10.West Lacey shopping
The nearest major retail centers can be found along Marvin Road in east Lacey, a little over 2 miles north of the neighborhood. This area features multiple supermarkets and shopping centers, as well as a variety of department and chain stores. The area is also home to the closest restaurants to the neighborhood. Chain restaurants dominate the area, but there’s a decent selection of local eateries as well, including the longstanding and simply named German Diner, which is known for its hearty Bavarian fare and house-made schnitzel. While there isn’t much nearby nightlife, on weekends residents can head up Old Pacific Highway to Medicine Creek Winery for cheese plates and wine tasting.McAllister Grove Community Park trails
One of the advantages of living in The Seasons is its proximity to the outdoors. There are a number of parks and green spaces within the neighborhood, including McAllister Grove Community Park, which offers old-growth pine forests and scenic nature trails. McAllister Creek, the Nisqually River and multiple nearby lakes provide extensive boating and fishing opportunities. And just a few miles north of the neighborhood, the 4,500-acre Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge features extensive wetlands boardwalks and some of the best birdwatching in the south Puget Sound area.River Ridge High's Taiko Ensemble
The Seasons neighborhood is part of the North Thurston School District, which has an A-minus grade on Niche. Evergreen Forest Elementary has a B-plus rating, while Nisqually Middle School Has a B-minus. River Ridge High School has a B and is known for its large and popular music program, which features multiple choirs and string orchestras, as well as one of the only taiko ensembles in the state.Getting to Olympia and JBLM
Transportation in The Seasons neighborhood is largely car-dependent, as the neighborhood’s location on the outskirts of town means public transportation options are limited. Intercity Transit runs buses along Marvin Road on the north side of the neighborhood but not on the south side, which is technically outside of Lacey. Interstate 5 passes about 3 miles north of the neighborhood, connecting to Olympia, Tacoma and Seattle. It’s about 12 miles from The Seasons to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, which employs a sizable chunk of area residents. Downtown Olympia, meanwhile, is roughly 11 miles west via car and serves as the hub of the regional arts and entertainment scene.Events
While the seasons is a fairly quiet corner of Lacey, the city does host a number of events throughout the year, including the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Long Lake and the Lacey Fireworks Spectacular, which is held every July at Rainier Vista Community Park.
