Surrounded by mountain views, lakes and a growing city
With breathtaking views, Aspen has access to mountain lake parks, health-conscious dining and excellent schools in the well-positioned suburban neighborhood of Orem. In Aspen, residents live in a walkable neighborhood close to a retail scene with the unique outdoor recreation that comes with living in the Rocky Mountains. “We have beautiful mountain views, nature trails, and a shoreline by the lake,” says Leah Duncan, a Realtor with Fathom Realty who has worked in Orem for over three years. “In the winter, I go snowboarding, cross-country skiing and ice repelling because those things are easy to do here.”

Families can find a picnic area and walking trail by the water at Vineyard Beach. Just three miles west is Utah Lake, where outdoor enthusiasts can raft, kayak and fish under the Rocky Mountain range.
Four miles east of Aspen is Provo Canyon, which has a scenic canyon hike and ski resort alongside the Provo River. At Sundance Mountain Resort, visitors can sleep in a mountain loft or relax in the spa after a day of hitting the slopes. Mount Timpanogos Park is a peaceful green space with pavilions and a dog park. Nunn’s Park offers campgrounds, mountain biking and hiking trails that stretch to the peak of Bridal Veil Falls, where hikers can see a massive waterfall rushing down the mountain.

Newer homes and an expanding market
In Aspen, single-family homes with garages sit on side streets in cul-de-sacs. Various condos, apartments, and multifamily options are also available. Most residential housing was built in the '80s and early '90s. Housing styles include four-square, split-level, and modern ranch-style homes. Potential homeowners can find a newly renovated 2-bedroom condo for $280,000, with prices increasing to $570,000 for a 4-bedroom ranch home with a fireplace and a backyard lot. “We’re expecting the market to keep growing,” says Duncan. “It’s a good time to sell if you’re a seller. If you’re a buyer, get in soon because there’s going to be a lot more competition.”
