Located in King County
Between the rushing waters of the White River and the bustling cars on the Valley Freeway, Pacific is a peaceful suburban neighborhood where you can enjoy the beauty of nature and commuter convenience with Seattle about 30 miles north.
On the southern edge of King County bordering Pierce County, this relatively flat city is full of single-family homes built between the mid-1900s and 2020. They’re located along Pacific’s grid-pattern streets on approximately quarter-acre lots with moderate greenery. Much of the city is made up of mid-century ranch-style houses selling for $300,000 to $500,000. On the south side, near the county line, you’ll find more contemporary Craftsman-style houses with around 2,000 square feet of living space ranging from $550,000 to $650,000. While Pacific has a calm atmosphere, you will occasionally hear a train running along the tracks that run through the center of town, along with the cars on the freeway if you live on the west side.
Locals enjoy the outdoors at Pacific City Park, right next to the White River. Stop by for a stroll next to the water while kids play on the playground and the open field. Pacific has several more playgrounds in small green spaces like Beaver Park, which connects to the Interurban Trail. The trail is a popular spot for bikers and joggers and can take you all the way to Seattle. Over at Clint Steiger Memorial Park, you can build muscle climbing the rock wall or using the outdoor workout equipment. Meanwhile, children can play on the pots, pans and other musical instruments attached to the ballfield’s backstop.
Kindergarten through fifth-grade students attend Alpac Elementary School. It’s rated a B by Niche and is easily within walking distance of several homes on the north side of Pacific. Students go on to C-plus-rated Olympic Middle School and B-plus-rated Auburn Riverside High School.
Outside of school, kids will head to the Pacific Community Center right next to City Hall to play basketball in the gymnasium and enjoy other activities through the youth program. The gym is also frequently used for community events like the annual Harvest Festival and Holiday Bazaar. Along with activities for children and community events, the center also offers senior services. And when you want to rent a book or use the internet, you can head over to the Algona-Pacific Library.
Locals typically shop at Safeway for groceries and other household products. It’s located in a shopping center with fast food and local multi-cultural restaurants. Enjoy margaritas and Mexican food at Rio Blanco, Vietnamese staples at Joy Pho & Teriyaki or Greek specialties at Gyro Flame. On the other side of town, Jack’s BBQ & Steakhouse brings a taste of Texas barbecue to Washington, along with Southern hospitality and live music.
If you’re looking for a place to live where you can enjoy the outdoors, have a convenient commute to Seattle and be part of an active community with fun annual events, Pacific could be the right place for you to call home.
