Established and budget-friendly
Dollartown is an established, older community with some homes dating back to the early 20th century. The neighborhood is primarily residential but has an industrial and lumber area to the north. Narrow streets are tree-lined, and some have sidewalks. Residents might want to remain indoors during the summer months as Paducah can get hot and muggy, with temperatures rising to 90 degrees.
Convenient commute
Commuters and travelers will appreciate the community's convenience and accessibility as U.S. Route 62 connects to Interstate 24. Downtown Paducah is 3 miles north, and Barclay Regional Airport is 12 miles to the west via US-62. Lourdes Hospital and Baptist Health Paducah are each less than 3 miles away. The Paducah Area Transit System has bus stops in the area, and there's a Greyhound bus station 3 miles away in neighboring Dolly McNutt.
Retail amenities all in one place
Residents can go to a plethora of chain restaurants, markets, and box stores in neighboring Dolly McNutt Court. McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Waffle House, Kroger, Lowe's Home Improvement, Walmart and the Paducah City Center are all within 3 to 4 miles. For more extensive retail and dining choices, residents can go to Kentucky Oaks Mall, a 5-mile drive. There are a few iconic eateries in the vicinity. Open since 1939, Kountry Kastle is a beloved barbecue and ribs restaurant. Harned's Drive-In has been serving take-out barbecue since 1955. Burgers, hot dogs and homemade chili are also on the menu. Another staple is Bob's Drive-In, which opened as a Dairy Queen in 1949. The restaurant's most recommended meal is the Fiesta Burger, fries and the $1 ice cream cone. The most ordered meal at Just Hamburgers is the double cheeseburger, their signature burger. Fries, shakes and more are also on the menu.

Large lots
Most of the houses are from the 40s and 50s, "They're known as atomic boom homes," says Nancy Upchurch, executive assistant for the Paducah planning department and a resident since 1972. This is because most of these homes were built for workers of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, once used to produce enriched uranium. Some houses date back to the turn of the 20th century. Bungalow and ranch-style homes are the predominant architectural styles, with sizes ranging from 900 to 1,500 square feet. Homes have garages, and prices range between $77,000 and $200,000. Lot sizes are much larger in this part of Paducah, starting at 1/4 acres and going up from there.

Help for the unhoused
The Paducah Cooperative Ministry, founded in 1973, is east of the community. It is an interfaith ministry that offers services to meet the basic needs of residents who require assistance with food or housing. The food pantry provides a monthly supply of emergency groceries per family that lasts for two to three days. The senior program, supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, aims to help low-income seniors maintain balanced diets. Fresh Start Village offers housing for homeless single women and single women with children. The housing includes four-bedroom, two-bathroom houses that accommodate up to four women (or more in extreme situations). Fresh Start Village can house 30 to 40 people at full capacity. Men are not permitted in the housing and are referred to the nearby River City Missions. Alyssa Brookes, the financial development coordinator, states, "We do our best to assist everyone who comes here and encourage them to become self-sufficient."
