Named after Paducah's first mayor, Dolly McNutt Court is an established neighborhood with a unique history. Many of the homes were built in the '40s and '50s. "They're known as atomic boom homes," says Nancy Upchurch, executive assistant for the Paducah planning department and a resident since 1972. This is because most of these homes were built for workers at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, once used to produce enriched uranium. These homes and others are on narrow, residential streets without sidewalks that wind throughout the residential area, where some homes need repair. The community is half housing and half retail, and many residents can walk to stores and fast-food restaurants.
