For the past 25 years, the Artist Relocation Program has reshaped Paducah's cultural and entertainment offerings. The program funded artists from across the globe to move into the city, infusing fresh life into the downtown especially. About 4 miles northeast of Nolan Drive, the city's riverfront is now decorated with wall-to-wall murals chronicling important points in the city's history, including its early beginnings as a trade node at the nexus of the Ohio and Tennessee rivers and its late 19th-century development as a railroad town. The downtown is also home to the Paducah Symphony Orchestra Academy, where musicians take classes to hone their crafts and perform in the music hall for up to 570 people. The riverfront also draws tens of thousands of people each September for the city's BBQ on the River festival, where live bands perform while Paducah natives and visitors consume 80,000 pounds of smoked meat.Getting around Paducah
