A Paducah suburb with mature homes

Four miles from Paducah's downtown, Wallace Park is a suburb with access to highly rated public schools, two hospitals and retail conveniences. Its houses were developed as early as the 1920s and as late as the 1990s. "These are terrific older homes with so much charm and character," says Realtor Toni Stricklin, who sells houses in the neighborhood with Housman Partners Real Estate. "It's gorgeous in the spring with the dogwood flowers bloom."

Ranch-style and Colonial Revival homes

"The homes are in good shape, and most have been renovated," Stricklin says. "There is a lot of pride among homeowners here." The neighborhood's suburban streets have an eclectic mix of single-family houses. The yards are large enough for homeowners to host parties in their backyards, often shaded by old-growth trees. Brick and wood-exterior ranch-style houses from the 1940s and 50s sell for between $135,000 and $415,000. Brick Colonial Revival-style houses from the 1920s and 30s sell for between $220,000 and $400,000. Brick New Traditional-style houses from the 1920s sell for as low as $220,000, and houses of the same style from the 1990s sell for as high as $660,000.
