MacArthur developed it, and the neighborhood won best planned community of 1956 from the National Association of Home Builders. Today, it’s a buzzy hotspot known internationally, but it retains a cool, suburban quality. Styles range from ranch homes to Mediterranean Revival villas to condos. It’s true that luxury experiences are available, like the condos at Palm Beach House, Regency Surf & Racquet Club and Placido Mar, which sit on the water. But as local realtors point out, there are several pricing options. Plenty of condos can be found starting at $200,000. Luxury units will go double that, to start with. Single-owner homes pop into view around the $600,000 mark. A renovated midcentury cottage in a beachy pastel hue will sell at that price, for example. Yards, fences and driveways are common sights on properties like these, as this is after all a suburban community. Thick grass and palm trees provide visual interest.
