Suburban Neighborhood in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Palm Beach County 33410
Mediterranean-style architecture in a secure, gated community
Homes are designed with Mediterranean architectural influences, including decorative facades and colorful terra-cotta roofs. Front yards are small, but well-maintained landscaping adds curb appeal. Backyards are more spacious, and several feature in-ground pools. Smaller lakes are located throughout the community, providing water views for many homes. Homes typically range in price from the mid-$500,000s to $2 million. Condominiums and townhomes range from the mid-$300,000s to the low $600,000s. HOA fees range from just over $500 to slightly more than $900. Flooding is not an issue, but homeowners can be at risk of wind damage during hurricane season – a risk that is mitigated by the design of the homes. “We have those heavy barrel-tile roofs,” Popp says. “They’re sturdy, and they help protect against the storms.” Residents enjoy protection of another kind as well. “We have two manned gates, and security drives around the community,” Popp says. “It’s very safe.”Lake Dorothy and the clubhouse are the center of activity
The Old Florida landscape complements elements of the contemporary neighborhood. “We have wide sidewalks, so you have kids riding their bikes,” Popp says. “And there’s a path that goes all the way around Lake Dorothy. Walking – that is a big thing.” Lake Dorothy and the clubhouse on its northern shore are the center of community activity. Residents regularly gather at the clubhouse pool and enjoy other resort-style amenities such as pickleball courts, a basketball court and a state-of-the-art fitness center. A pier that extends into Lake Dorothy is a prime spot for birdwatching and offers excellent views at sunset. Outside the community, golfers enjoy Abacoa Golf Club’s public course. Nearby PGA National hosts the annual Cognizant Classic, formerly the Honda Classic and the first stop on the PGA Tour’s Florida swing. Juno Beach is a buzzy attraction less than 5 miles away on the Atlantic oceanfront.Bus picks up students at the clubhouse
The community is served by the Palm Beach County School District, whose B-plus grade from Niche includes even higher marks for diversity and college prep. William T. Dwyer High, which earns an A-minus from Niche, is the closest of three well-rated schools that students typically attend. A JROTC program and an Early Childhood Teacher Academy are featured academic offerings. Younger students can attend Marsh Pointe Elementary, rated A, and Watson B. Duncan Middle, rated B-plus. “We petitioned to get the school bus to come into the community, so now the kids are picked up right at the clubhouse,” Popp says.Holidays are a busy time on the social calendar
The community also keeps a busy social calendar. The clubhouse’s Tiki Restaurant hosts live music and the popular game night each Wednesday at the Tiki Bar. The holidays are an especially busy time. “On New Year’s Eve, they have a big dinner. On Christmas, there’s a breakfast with Santa. And Halloween, oh my, people are lined up outside the community to get in,” Popp says. “There’s a lot of stuff going on, and there’s a lot to do if you want to be involved.”Quick and easy access to Jupiter, West Palm Beach
The community is centrally located for travel to other coastal destinations. State Road 811 leads directly to Jupiter about 5 miles north. Interstate 95 provides direct access to West Palm Beach and its international airport about 15 miles south. Closer to home, residents can catch the bus along Donald Ross Road, which forms the community’s northern border and leads directly to the oceanfront. Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is less than 4 miles away.Coolinary is the brainchild of a renowned local chef
Coolinary, a contemporary American restaurant owned by locally famous chef Tim Lipman, is a highly-rated dining destination in Donald Ross Village, a retail center adjacent to the neighborhood. Publix at Frenchman’s Crossing provides a convenient grocery stop. The Gardens Mall, a highlight of the nearby PGA Boulevard commercial corridor, offers an array of upscale retail stores that includes Nordstrom, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s.
