Suburban living near Lake Lewisville
About 40 miles north of Dallas, Paloma Creek South, as its name suggests, is the southern portion of the master-planned community called Paloma Creek, separated by U.S. Route 380 from its northern portion. The area is located within the town of Little Elm alongside other newly built residential communities, though the Paloma Creek development predates most of the surrounding neighborhoods. “The Paloma area is an older community with newer sections being added,” says Leslie Reeves, a Realtor at Ebby Halliday with about 25 years of experience in the North Dallas area. Most homes in the community were built between 2006 and 2024, and residents have exclusive access to the pools and community recreation amenities. The area also benefits from proximity to Lake Lewisville, which attracts nature lovers, boaters and anglers year-round. Paloma Creek South hugs the upper end of the eastern fork of the lake, and people who live in the community benefit immensely from that proximity. “Little Elm has a large entertainment center on the lake and a public park with swimming access,” Reeves says. “Residents enjoy the small-town feel and easy access to the cities of Frisco, Dallas and Denton.”

Paloma Creek South offers recreation facilities within the community and a few miles south along Lake Lewisville. Walking trails lead to the community’s three amenity centers, each of which has a pool and clubhouse. The Creekside Trail stretches behind homes, connecting green spaces to one another. Residents can also tend to the community garden, play on the playground and take dogs to the dog park.
Locals can access Lake Lewisville at Little Elm Park, about 9 miles south. This recreational area has a boat ramp, beach and athletic facilities. The Lakefront at Little Elm is an event space along the lake, which screens outdoor movies and hosts a range of family-friendly events. The dog-friendly Johnny Broyles Nature Trail hugs the shoreline, offering a quiet place for birdwatching, jogging and watching the sunset over the water. When planning outings by the water, locals should be aware that the area can experience thunderstorms and summer temperatures that can reach into the triple digits. There is also an increased risk of tornadoes in the spring.
When it’s too hot or rainy outside, families can consider the Lakefront area’s indoor recreation options. The Cove at the Lakefront is an indoor water park open year-round featuring a lazy river, waterslides and wave simulator. It has a designated “Toddler Time” on Monday and Thursday mornings for young children to play at the water park. The water park is located next to The Rec at the Lakefront, a two-story indoor recreation center with group exercise rooms and kids’ programming.
