Casa Grande
Victory Park and Jefferson Park
Just east of the neighborhood, Victory Park is one of the most popular parks in the city, with facilities from soccer fields to ballfields. “It is a great park for children’s sporting events like baseball games. There’s a lot of space, and it’s next to Pasadena High School,” McIntyre says. This park features walking paths with views of the San Gabriel Mountains and a recreation center with an indoor gym. It also hosts the Pasadena Victory Park Farmer's Market, an array of certified vendors every Saturday morning. Jefferson Park, located west of Casa Grande, offers basketball courts, volleyball courts and shaded picnic tables.Tudor Revivals, Mediterranean homes and ranch-style homes in Casa Grande
East of Old Pasadena, Casa Grande is purely residential, composed of avenues lined with jacaranda and crape myrtle trees, which blossom in the spring and summer months. The area’s single-family houses come with lawns with enough room for garden beds, often manicured with trimmed boxwood hedges and rose bushes. “There are streets in that neighborhood that have really beautiful architecture that have stood the test of time, properties built in the 1920s and ‘30s. That doesn’t exist in a lot of other parts of LA,” McIntyre says. Some famous houses include the historic Craig Adobe home, which dates back to 1880, and the Van Halen house, the childhood home of Eddie and Alex Van Halen. More architecture includes Tudor Revivals, Mediterranean homes and ranch-style homes. There are also a couple of townhouse communities on the neighborhood’s east end. Ranch-style homes range from $1 million to $1.6 million, while townhouses range from $800,000 to $900,000. On the higher end, Mediterranean homes and Tudor Revivals are priced between $1.7 million and $2.2 million. Houses in Casa Grande stay on the market for 22 days on average, compared to the national average of 46 days. “The market’s very swift throughout Pasadena, certainly in our nicer neighborhoods, this being one of them. The houses there aren’t massive, so it ends up being a more approachable price point,” McIntyre says.Pasadena Unified schools, from Norma Coombs Elementary to Pasadena High
Norma Coombs Elementary School has a B rating on Niche. Middle school Charles W. Eliot Arts Magnet Academy has a C, while Pasadena High School earns an A rating. In 2024, the high school won the AP Access Award for making AP courses available to minority and low-income students. It also won AP Honor Roll Silver for outstanding college readiness. All three schools are within walking distance of the community. In the northwest corner of Casa Grande, Marshall Fundamental serves middle and high school levels. It has an A-minus rating and is an all-lottery school, meaning any Pasadena student can attend, although preference is given to those who live nearby. Higher education options include the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Pasadena City College.Washington Boulevard's local businesses, including Domenico's
Less than a mile north of Casa Grande, Washington Boulevard offers local restaurants, including Domenico's, a family-owned mainstay that serves Italian classics in a casual atmosphere. Egg Roll Express has Chinese food in a laid-back setting, while Callisto Tea House features British and Chinese tea services. Shops range from Acts Thrift Store, which has an array of furniture, to the florist Southern Roots. For Mediterranean groceries, locals can stop by Good Food Market, or they can opt for a wider selection at Stater Bros. Markets. Only 3 miles from Old Town, Casa Grande residents can easily drive to the city’s historic district for more retail and dining options.10 miles to Glendale, 15 miles to downtown LA and more transit
As a suburban neighborhood, Casa Grande is home to many commuters who travel throughout LA County. Via state Route 134, Glendale is only 10 miles away. Downtown Los Angeles is about 15 miles away on state Route 110. Major employers in Pasadena include the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Huntington Hospital and Caltech.
