On Top of the World
Suburban Neighborhood in Pasadena, Florida
Pinellas County 33763
A gated condo complex with over 150 activity clubs and other amenities
On Top of the World is a community of nearly 5,000 condominiums. It’s structured like a master-planned development or all-inclusive resort, with recreation, shopping and community spaces. A 3D colorful globe fountain sits at the entrance inside a landscaped green space as its focal point to reflect its name. It's walkable and bikeable, but the community provides free transportation for residents. Most condos were built in the late-1970s and range from the low-$100,000s for a one-bedroom to the low-$400,000s for a four-bedroom. Property sizes average between 800 square feet and 2,400 square feet. Residential buildings are built in an X-shape, giving each unit a balcony facing the palm tree-lined streets. Each condo building has a different color and style, ranging from Mediterranean to Art Deco, tropical and Chinese pagodas. Higher-priced condos are on the top floors and closest to Harbor Lake, which hugs the community’s western edge. Condos do not have garages, but there is assigned parking. Homeowners’ association fees cover access to recreation and upkeep. "The HOA is diligent and takes care of maintenance in every unit, and the fees are a great value," says Leida-Goldsmith. Condos can be rented for six months to a year, with monthly rents ranging from around $1,400 for a one-bedroom to $2,500 for a two-bedroom. Amenities are much of On Top of the World’s appeal. “We have more amenities on this property than any community in the state,” says Harry Rubin, Office Manager for On Top of the World Properties. It has over 170 clubs, like poker and line dancing, that residents can join. The community also has pools, sports courts, small parks, golf courses and a fitness center. Events are held at its clubhouse year-round. The neighborhood has a CAP Index Crime Score of 3/10, slightly lower than the national average of 4.An abundance of recreation, from shuffleboard to a dog park and two golf courses
Residents can access a wealth of recreation inside the community. On Top of the World provides 18-hole and 9-hole private golf courses with several leagues. There are fees to play golf. The neighborhood offers two activity centers, where residents can partake in theatre performances, play pool or learn tai chi. The community has areas for lawn games and multiple nature areas with paved hiking and biking paths. There are two heated outdoor pools, tennis, shuffleboard and pickleball courts. Harbor Lake allows fishing and boating. Pet owners can take their dogs to the on-site dog park. Outside the community, the 41-acre Lake Chautauqua Park sits less than 4 miles east. It’s one of Clearwater’s larger nature parks, with several trails, fishing spots and open wildflower fields. Camp Soule is next to the park. The forested wilderness spot is popular for tent and cabin camping, kayaking and day camps. Clearwater Beach sits less than 9 miles west for more outdoor fun.A community celebrating through clubs, dances and regular socials
The community has distributed its own newspaper for over 55 years. There are activities every day and regular events, including weekly food truck and live music nights, an annual winter concert, karaoke and an annual Halloween dance. All the clubs also have regular socials and special celebrations.Close to Highway 19 and multiple public transit options
Highway 19 sits directly east of the community, connecting to State Road 580 and Interstate 275. These routes provide access to the rest of the region. Downtown St. Petersburg is about 20 miles south, and Tampa International Airport is approximately 22 miles southwest. Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority provides hourly bus service to the neighborhood and discount cards to those 55 and older. On Top of the World has a free shuttle service that takes residents to shopping centers. Neighborly Care Network is another free option for residents 60 and older and includes wheelchair access. Mease Dunedin Hospital is the closest medical facility, less than 5 miles west.Mom and pops and big-box stores nearby
Inside the On Top of the World community, Good Karma Café provides specialty coffee drinks, sandwiches and snacks. Most other shops and restaurants are along Highway 19, directly east, and Sunset Point Road, directly south. Green Mint Vietnamese Fusion is popular for its pho, Bahn mi and boba teas. Sunset Grill Clearwater is a family-owned local favorite for its American comfort foods and key lime pie. Mr. & Mrs. Crab–Clearwater is the go-to spot for seafood boils and snow crab. The shopping center Sunset Point 19, less than 2 miles away, offers Sprout’s Famer’s Market for essentials, along with Old Navy and Hobby Lobby. Countryside Mall is about 2 miles north for big box retailers and department stores.
