Waterfront, rural living in Pascoag-Harrisville
Pascoag-Harrisville isn’t close to anything, and its residents like it that way. Located in the rural town of Burrillville, the neighborhood is comprised of two distinct areas: the unincorporated area of Pascoag, which includes the land surrounding the Pascoag Reservoir, and the village of Harrisville, at the northeast corner of the Burrillville region. "It’s a quiet town, there’s no major metropolis area nearby. It’s at least 20 to 25 minutes to get to the city, and a lot of people like that,” says Kristen Moore with RE/MAX Properties, who grew up in the area and has been selling homes in Burrillville for 18 years. “Some people come here because they want the lakefront properties, others just want to get out of the city and into the country.”
Recreation on and off land in Pascoag-Harrisville
On Pascoag Reservoir, residents can go boating (there’s a 10 horsepower engine limit), canoeing, jet skiing or kayaking. Fishing enthusiasts can fish for bass, sunfish, perch and pike here. Youth hockey is a big attraction, and members of the Burrillville Junior Hockey League, established in the 1950s, often start as 9- or 10-year-old 'squirts' and continue playing through high school. Kids and adults looking for recreation off the ice can check out the Burrillville Skate Park, located between northern Pascoag and Harrisville, to practice their skateboard and BMX skills. For indoor activities, the Assembly Theater in Harrisville puts on plays with parts for all ages.

20th and 21st century homes in Pascoag-Harrisville
Many of the homes in Pascoag-Harrisville are small cottages perched along the shoreline of the 325-acre Pascoag Reservoir. Further from the reservoir, narrow, largely unlined roads wind through the country, leading to farmhouses with large front porches. In the village of Harrisville itself, stately colonials line walkable streets. History runs deep in Burrillville, which is named after former Rhode Island senator and abolitionist James Burrill. Many of the homes built in the early 1900s still stand; however, major development took place between the 1970s and 1990s, and some homes were built in the early 2000s. Most three-to-four-bedroom homes sell for around $400,000, while newly built condos run around $250,000 for a two-bedroom.

Vibrant, small-town nightlife and dining in Pascoag-Harrisville
Pascoag-Harrisville is an area where people shop locally by preference as well as necessity. Chain and franchise locations are limited to the CVS and Dunkin’ Donuts located in the heart of Pascoag. Small local markets like Brigido's Fresh Market offer grocery essentials. “It’s the perfect little market if you want to stop and grab a rotisserie chicken or something like that, but most people do the bulk of their shopping in nearby towns or get groceries delivered to them,” Moore says. For dining and nightlife, however, local restaurants and bars are abundant in the neighborhood, and many places, such as Elayna's, offer nightly entertainment ranging from karaoke to DJs. Bravo Brewing Company offers beer and hard seltzers on tap and hosts live music on weekends.
