Young students in the village often attend schools in the Pelham Union Free School District, which is rated A-plus by Niche. Hutchinson Elementary School received a new state-of-the-art building in September 2021 that meets LEED Silver Standards, making it an environmentally sustainable facility. The school has an A-Niche rating. Albert Leonard Middle School, located in nearby New Rochelle, has an A-minus Niche rating. Pelham Memorial High School has 96% of students proficient in math and is an A-plus-rated school.

Park honors late resident
Julianne’s Playground, the only park in this area, was named for an 8-year-old girl who died of Ewing’s sarcoma in 2000. The tight-knit community rallied on her behalf to establish and renovate the park in her honor, knowing it was where she found solace.

Fifth Avenue features eateries and shopping
The neighborhood’s main road, Fifth Avenue, is lined with restaurants and cafes like Macelleria Italian Steakhouse and Pelham Pizza. As you wander from one to another, you’ll find pizza, sushi, bagels, coffee and more to meet a range of food cravings. Locals will also find DeCicco & Sons Pelham, a neighborhood grocery store on Fifth Avenue.

Metro-North links commuters to Manhattan
The village is about 16 miles from Manhattan, close enough for residents to commute by car or the Metro-North Railroad’s New Haven Line for work or fun.Arts community shapes neighborhood
On this main road, you’ll also find Pelham Art Center, a community staple for over 50 years. The center holds classes for aspiring artists of all ages and has a gallery that hosts exhibitions featuring local, national and international artists and curators, bringing neighbors together to experience and appreciate art. Further north along Fifth Avenue, SOOP Theatre Company puts on theatrical performances and offers a range of programs for kids, including workshops, vocal instruction and the chance to participate in theatrical performances for the community.
