A sun-kissed community in Pembroke Pines
Century Village is a nationally known 55-plus community comprised of 7,700 late-20th century condos in 10 mid-rise buildings in Broward County. The area is 15 miles west of the beaches of Hollywood and 25 miles northwest of Miami. The community is known for its luxurious amenities and sunny location in Pembroke Pines. The development contains the Village Medical Center and the Pembroke Pines Jewish Center. Locals stay connected through Town Hall meetings and an active Facebook group. Outside the gates are retail centers and more planned communities.
A gated community with condos
Condos in Century Village range from more recent builds of Monterey Revivals and Mediterranean influences to older postwar contemporary styles. Properties are between two and four stories high, and four of the 10 buildings have elevators. All units include emergency buttons in the primary bedrooms, and most condos have waterside or golf course views. Residences stay on the market for an average of 88 days, almost double the national average. One-bedroom homes range in price from $115,000 to $230,000. Larger units and remodels typically cost between $150,000 and $350,000. Next to the Century Village development is the smaller gated community, Pembroke Cay Condos. These twenty-first-century attached homes often range in price from $400,000 to $475,000.
Recent rises in insurance premiums and corresponding homeowners association fees have caused some Century Village owners to sell their condos. But Denis Kersaint, a longtime award-winning Realtor with Signature Florida, explains, "It's based on the rising price of insurance throughout the state, not just Century Village. After the tragedy in Surfside, the state requirements for insurance and retrofitting became stricter."
Century Village is surrounded by clear blue lakes, lush greenery and a Golf Course.

Enjoying the Flamingo Lakes Golf and Country Club
The main clubhouse features 135,000 square feet of recreational spaces. Residents participate in card clubs, book clubs and arts clubs. Homeowners have waived green fees at the onsite 18-hole golf course at Flamingo Lakes Golf & Country Club. According to Kersaint, there are tennis courts and 27 pools for weekly Arthritis Aquacise classes. Residents can use their identification cards to access the facilities at Century Village Club Health. Outdoor activities include sailing classes and catch-and-release fishing on the many lakes and canals. William B. Armstrong Dream Park and C.B. Smith Park are green spaces about 5 miles outside the community.

Flamingo Pines Shopping Center and Shops at Pembroke Gardens
The Flamingo Pines Shopping Center and a Walmart occupy the northeastern corner of the neighborhood. The retail space includes a post office and several chain restaurants. Nearby are a Trader Joe's and a Publix Super Market. To the west are the Shops at Pembroke Gardens. Here, visitors have a more upscale experience with stores like Banana Republic in addition to sit-down options like Sirocco Mediterranean Restaurant and Lounge or Havana 1957 Cuban Cuisine. The retail center hosts a Farmers Market on Sundays and an annual Howl-O-Ween Family Fest.

Events close to home
Themed events, like tea parties, are often held in the 900-seat ballroom. The party room, inside the clubhouse, has weekly bingo nights on Sundays. The 1,030-seat community theater hosts movies and musical performances. Other popular gatherings include the annual Halloween and New Year's Eve parties.

Century Village is next to I-75
"There's a trolley system that picks residents up and takes them throughout the village and into the city of Pembroke Pines," says Kersaint. "And people like to venture out to Miami. Many people have cars, and it's by Interstate 75, so it's very convenient." In 2024, the Century Village development added extra security measures at the main entrance gate, resulting in longer wait times during peak hours. The closest major medical facility, Memorial Hospital Miramar, is about 5 miles west.
A part of Broward County Public Schools
There are no schools inside Century Village, but children can attend schools within 3 miles of the neighborhood. Lakeside Elementary receives a B grade on Niche. Walter C. Young Middle and Charles W. Flanagan High have B-plus grades on Niche. The high school received upgrades and a new building addition in 2023.
