The neighborhood has several parks, the largest of which is Flamingo Park. It covers more than 31 acres and includes playgrounds, shade structures, batting cages and 11 ball fields, which are regularly used by little leagues. There are also two parklets and a designated dog park in the community. The kiddie parks sit along 111th and 108th avenues and have small shaded playgrounds and quaint lawn spaces. Craig Rupp K-9 Dog Park is a fenced-in space filled with pavilions for owners to sit under as they watch their pups explore various obstacles in size-designated areas. The park is also the venue for the community's annual Bow-Wow Ween Dog Costume Contest, held each October. Also in the neighborhood is Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club, a public club with practice greens, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Also on the property is Club 19 Restaurant, which is regularly rented out for weddings and events. Just outside the neighborhood is C.B. Smith Park, a 300-acre space with dozens of amenities, ranging from the ocean-themed Paradise Cove Waterpark to an AllGolf facility with putting greens, a mini-golf course and batting cages to a campsite and sports courts. On the other side of town is Pembroke Lakes Shopping Plaza, a strip mall with specialty shops like Aligator's Cycling and Ramona's Alterations. It also has a few local eateries like JT's Sports Bar & Grill, a casual sports bar known for its grilled chicken wings. Additional shopping and dining options are available at the centrally located Village Square shopping center. Overall, single-family dwellings range from $300,000 to $800,000. Condos and townhouses mostly have between one and three bedrooms and sell for between $150,000 and $500,000. The neighborhood is served by Broward County Public Schools, which includes Pembroke Lakes Elementary School, graded an A-minus on Niche, Walter C. Young Middle School, and Charles W. Flanagan High School, both graded a B-plus. Flanagan High partners with several colleges and universities, including the University of Florida, Broward College and Florida International University, to provide students with dual enrollment courses. Florida offers school choice, so students can also apply to attend public Pembroke Pines Charter Schools, including Pembroke Pines Charter Middle-Central Campus, located in the neighborhood. The city of Pembroke Pines hosts various events throughout the year, including the Annual Honorable Mayor Frank C. Another popular community event is the KISS Country Chili Cookoff, sponsored by the KISS Country 99.9 radio station. The long-running event is held each January in C.B.
