Franklin Music Hall, formerly known as the Electric Factory, resides in a building that used to be a part of the General Electric Switchgear Plant and now hosts concerts that showcase rap, grunge, pop and more. While Callowhill is very walkable, several SEPTA bus stops are available throughout the neighborhood. There are also two subway stations nearby for traveling around Philly.Gastropubs and breweries galore
Callowhill’s hip vibes tend to draw in younger crowds with its many gastropubs and breweries. Some local favorites include Prohibition Taproom, which has comfort food, a jukebox and a dimly lit atmosphere. Love City Brewing is a brewery and a tasting room housed in a former rail-parts factory. Visitors enjoy the variety of food trucks that frequent the brewery. Triple Bottom Brewery is a microbrewery and hangout space known for its mocktails, charcuterie and hand pies. There aren’t many retailers or grocery stores in Callowhill. Locals tend to go to Chinatown across the street for a diverse range of products sold in the community’s Asian markets. Target is a couple of blocks away in Northern Liberties and the number of shopping destinations will increase closer to Center City.
