Creekside neighborhood not far from the city
Tucked into the curve of Pennypack Creek, Rhawnhurst offers residents access to lush green spaces, amenities on their doorstep and the city in easy reach. “It’s a nice quiet neighborhood that’s conveniently located to everything you could need. You can jump on 95 and it’s just 20 minutes to Center City,” says Iris Gonzalez, a local Realtor with Quaint Oak Real Estate. “I’d also say it’s an established community. People tend to stick around and aren’t really relocating so there’s not usually a lot of available property.”

From farmland to twins and ranch-style homes
Rhawnhurst was mostly farmland until 1940 when development began to commercialize the neighborhood. Demand for housing rose in the 1960s following the baby boom, which led to a mass production of twins and a few ranch-style homes built by home builder A.P. Orleans. Most homes come with attached garages in the front or through a back alleyway. Homes that do have backyards are typically fenced in and right up against adjacent neighbors. The neighborhood consists of long grid-pattern streets with sidewalks, making this an easy area to navigate and go for a stroll. Home prices typically fall between $275,000 and $500,000. There are a total of about 7,440 homes in the neighborhood and the average number of days on the market for Rhawnhurst is lower than the national average. Houses can date as far back as 1925 or as recently as 2024. They range from 740 to 3,000 square feet in size.

History lovers will appreciate the historic buildings, arrowheads and stone tools still being found in the area that reflect the park’s story from its Native American presence and early settlers to its days as a mill and small industrial center producing flour, lumber and textiles. For a more open space, Bradford Park has large grassy fields and is commonly used as a dog park.
