A historic Philly neighborhood adjacent to Temple University
Once a predominately Black community home to musicians like Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Yorktown offers an unexpected slice of Philly history minutes from Temple University. The community has been well-maintained by generations of families living in Yorktown, but Temple’s presence is starting to turn sections of the neighborhood into student housing. Even with the encroachment of student and investment housing, Yorktown remains a family-friendly community, close to local public schools and minutes from Center City.

Well-maintained midcentury rowhomes connected to Philly amenities
Spacious rowhomes are the predominant feature in Yorktown, most of which were built in the 1960s. Many of these homes feature contemporary interior renovations. Prices for rowhomes in the community range from $200,000 to $400,000, depending on the level of updates done. Realtor Ray Caceres, president of Penn Liberty Real Estate, says, “The homes are in good shape. They’re not as old as homes in other Philadelphia neighborhoods so people have been living there forever. There’s no reason to move.” Also, unlike many other neighborhoods in the city, you don’t have to park in the street because most homes come with driveways, attached garages or private parking lots. “It’s one of the most affordable spots in the city,” says Caceres. “That’s the best thing about it – affordability and living in the city.”
Yorktown's renown lies in its diverse array of row homes.

Students can go on to Benjamin Franklin High School, located closer to Center City. There, students can personalize their education with career and technical education programs like design and culinary arts.
