Stetson Valley
Suburban Neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona
Maricopa County 85083, 85310
Homes with neutral desert shades
Clay-colored stucco walls and terra-cotta tiled roofs dominate the Stetson Valley landscape. Most homes were built in the early 2000s and feature a Spanish Revival-style design. Many also have paved driveways and attached garages, which are convenient in the desert heat. The homes rest along quiet streets and cul-de-sacs. "There's no through traffic because none of the streets connect to major roads," Randall says. "That makes it great for families with small children, because they have room to roam." Wide paved sidewalks border the residential streets, inviting folks to step outside for an evening stroll. There are views of the surrounding hills from almost every property, which gives the neighborhood an air of seclusion. On average, buyers can expect to spend between $600,000 and $800,000 for a home in Stetson Valley.A park deemed worthy of exploration
Deem Hills Community Park is the place to go for sports, play dates, and outdoor recreation. The space features basketball, volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts. There’s also a fenced-in dog park and play structures for younger kids. The sand-based playground has nifty stone-like formations for little ones to climb on. The park serves as the starting point for several Deem Hills Recreation Area hiking trails. The 1.5-mile Ridgeline Trail is moderately challenging and offers the highest elevation of any trail in the system. For a longer, less strenuous hike, the Deem Hills Circumference Trail measures 5.7 miles and traverses the entire recreation area, offering superb views of the greater Phoenix area.Stetson Valley schooling
Most students in Stetson Valley attend Las Brisas Elementary School, which gets an A-minus from Niche. Some might go to Stetson Hills Elementary, a K through 8 institution that receives an A from Niche. Next up is Hillcrest Middle School, which also gets an A, and Sandra Day O'Connor High School, which gets an A-minus. Stetson Hills Elementary and Sandra Day O'Connor High are right in Stetson Valley. Some students might be able to walk to Stetson Hills, but the high school's location along a busy highway makes that trek impractical.Teeing into the future
Golfers will want to check out the Futures Course at the 500 Club. This 18-hole course offers golf clinics for junior players and women at the beginner or intermediate levels. In midwinter, the 500 Club hosts a pre-qualifier for the WM Phoenix Open. When the spooky season rolls around in October, thrill-seekers should consider visiting 42nd Haunt, a residential haunted house attraction on West Park View Lane.Flight of the Phoenix
Though the residential streets are walkable, people who live in Stetson Valley need to have cars. Interstate 17 runs along the neighborhood's eastern edge, making for a convenient commute to downtown Phoenix, about 25 miles south. The drive should take 50 minutes to an hour. Getting to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport also takes about an hour.A Happy Valley experience
Stetson Valley residents can stock up on groceries at Fry's Food and Drug. There's also a Safeway at Stetson Village Shopping Center. Nearby is Happy Valley Towne Center, which has a Walmart, a TJ Maxx, and chain restaurants like Olive Garden, Starbucks and Panda Express. At the Stillery, patrons enjoy live music while sipping craft cocktails out of mason jars.Beat the heat at Hurricane Harbor
Just south of Stetson Valley is Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, a family-friendly water park. Formerly known as Waterworld Safari and Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix, the park is slated for a March 2024 opening. The lineup of exhilarating water slides offers a refreshing escape from the Arizona heat.
