A growing rural community of Greenville County
In the southern countryside of Greenville County, Piedmont has become an attractive option for homebuyers seeking a slow-paced lifestyle while not too far from the city. Dan Sobus, a sales representative for Mungo Homes Properties, has been selling homes in Piedmont since 2018. He says, “It’s very open and there’s a lot of farmland. It encompasses a large area and so it’s starting to develop quite a lot. I’d say about 75 percent of homes on the market are new construction.”
New housing developments
New housing developments are popping up all over Piedmont. Some developments have three-to-four-bedroom townhouses with attached garages ranging from $275,000 to $325,000. Most developments, however, are full of one and two-story, Craftsman-style houses. With these brand-new single-family homes ranging from 1,800 to 3,600 square feet, prices vary anywhere from $250,000 to $650,000. Most homes come with attached garages and are fixed on quarter-acre lots with scenic wooded backdrops. While these housing developments give a sense of suburban life, a quick turn out of each one leads to the more rural part of Piedmont, where homes in all shapes and sizes rest on several acres of land, from $300,000-ranch-style houses to million-dollar custom mansions.
Farther out the parcels and homes in Piedmont are larger in size.

Highways to Greenville
“People like that they feel far away from everything, but they can still get to Downtown Greenville in about 20 to 30 minutes,” Sobus says. Locals have easy access to both U.S. Route 25 and Interstate 185 (toll road), both leading about 10 miles north to Downtown Greenville.
Piedmont is a large and diverse area with jobs and homes to be found.
Small town restaurants and dairy farms
Augusta Road (U.S. Route 25) has a few retailers and restaurants where residents can go to shop for essentials and grab a bite to eat. Shoppers can get groceries from Ingles and Food Lion and grab other products from Dollar General or Family Dollar. The few restaurants add to the small-town feel of Piedmont. When it’s time for Southern comfort food, locals tick on over to Clock, a meat-and-three-style restaurant serving fried chicken, hamburger steaks and other meats with three sides. Just down the road, 3 Friends Bar and Grill offers a likely dining experience where neighbors can gather for karaoke, open mic and music bingo nights. Out in the deep country of Piedmont, Happy Cow Creamery invites the community to taste their homemade ice cream and other dairy products. It also has a market full of locally sourced products and offers tours of the cow-grazing farm.
The Clock serves up Piedmont favorites all day.
Local favorite 3 Friends is a good spot to grab a beer after work.
